Ok, I have to ask. Why is Kentucky Fried Chicken's commercial background music "Sweet Home Alabama"?
Any other "Whaaaa?" moments you'd like to share?

Cuz Kentuckians and Alabamians are all rednecks? ;D
And don't call it Kentucky Fried Chicken!!
First, Kentucky makes it sound to regionalized and, of course, redneck
Second, don't say fried because we have these health nuts out there
Third, no chicken either due to the PETA nuts....
...thus, KFC!
I'm going to think about this. I'm sure there are tons and tons out there!

Here's another reason not to call it Kentucky...
One of their main processing plants/slaughterhouses is about an hour down the road from me in Moorefield, West by God Virginia. It was the one that got in trouble awhile ago for the conditions of the animals. And yes, the town smells bad. Baaaad bad.
Although geographically, it's closer than Alabama, I'll grant you.

The Skittles ad where there is a creepy dude hooked up to a milking machine elicited a sort of "whaa?" reaction out of me when I saw it. That, and I think I threw up a little in my mouth. What does milking a weird guy with six nipples have to do with Skittles?

Yeah, that commercial is gross on so many levels. Milking a human to drink. That human is a guy. He has six nipples. His eating of the skittles passes the flavor onto the milk. Not to mention he doesn't look like the type of guy I'd want to drink milk from (wait, that sounded wrong.....)
The urban legend about KFC is that they had to start using the initials because of false advertising. The meat they were using was supposedly mutant bird that could no longer be classified as "chicken".

Ah yes the "KFC uses mutant birds born with no legs/heads" myth. Awesome stuff right there.
As far as "wahhhh" moments for me...
That fungus commercial where the little fungus guy lifts someones toenail to go inside.
The Best Buy spot with the cyborg guy. He freaks me out.
Also those new car commercials where the monster looking things behead the sheep looking things for driving the wrong kind of car or whatever. Those are just idiotic beyond belief.

Yeah, that fungus toe nail creature, when he lifts that toenail up you can almost feel it. The mucinex snot monster is a little creepy as well.

I never liked those Duracell commercials with the weird statue-like/robot people in them.
Always kind of weirded me out.

Those old Quiznos commercials with the singing dead rats freaked out my wife...to the point that she refuses to ever eat there.

Those things are called "spongmonkeys" by the guy that created them. Check out the video that inspired it all: www.rathergood.com/moon_song/I found them fascinating, myself...

Oh man, we were singing the Quiznos song for like 6 months after those commercials came out. My cousin would randomly burst out with "THEY'VE GOT A PEPPER BAR!" and I'd just lose it.
While this is only slightly related, I always hate sexist commercials. And no, I don't mean beer commercials or sexism against women. I mean commercials where men are made to look like idiots, or put into situations that would be unacceptable if a woman was put in the same spot.
For instance there's some diet plan that has commercials appealing to men with retired sports stars talking about how much weight they've lost. One of the men says "Now that I've lost 10 pounds, my wife says I'm not as disgusting to her as I used to be!"
Can you imagine the public outcry if a woman revealed that her husband found her disgusting? Oh man, people would be shocked an appalled at her being treated like that. But with a man it's played up for comedy.
I realize there are social differences that create situations like that, but man do I hate double standards like that.

Can you imagine the public outcry if a woman revealed that her husband found her disgusting? Oh man, people would be shocked an appalled at her being treated like that. But with a man it's played up for comedy. Correct me if I'm wrong, somebody, but isn't that John Kruk who says that in that ad? (Might be Mike Golic, I can't recall.) In which case, everything he's ever done has been played for comedy, including when he played ball. (He's from a town only a few miles down the road from me in West Virginia, so I've followed his career somewhat.) I hear what you're saying, but there's a lot more societal stuff going into calling a woman "disgusting" and a man. Women have a lot more expectations, imposed by themselves and the nebulous "society" (but mostly themselves, ultimately), to look a certain way. And it would absolutely be wrong to switch genders there, no doubt. But for a guy like Kruk (or even Golic) doing it? Eh, they're just engaging in the kind of self-deprecating humor most ex-jocks do. Doesn't bug me. For a while there, though, what did bug me was that in almost all the ads that had a couple in it, where one member of the couple was made to look like a dummy, it was the guy. Split it half and half, at least. There's a Nationwide "Life comes at you fast" commercial out there that kind of switches roles a bit, where the guy is flipping the switch that he doesn't know what it does and he asks his wife if she's looking to see. Without glancing up from what she's reading, she says (annoyed), "Yes!" So maybe we're turning the corner... EDIT: Oh, wait, I almost forgot. THEY GOT A PEPPAH BAH!

Yeah, Mark, I was thinking John Kruk when I read offspring's post. Would have mentioned him if you didn't.
And you notice the recent pepto commercial with the giant monsters destroying the town. It's the 50 ft woman who grabs her butt during the "diarrhea" part of the jingle.
"heartburn, indegestion, upset stomache, diarrhea!!"
Spiffy.

My most memorable baseball opening day was the year after John Kruk had one of his testicles removed. I remember the ump calling ball 2 and a bunch of people below me laughing about it.
