I have never bought a case of American beer, I was wondering what sizes are your cases. In Canada you can get beer in 6,12,15,16,18,20,24 and 28 packs. Now not every beer is available in every size, so how many diffrent sizes of cases do you have in the U.S.

when you say a "case" of beer, that has usually meant a standard 30-rack in most circles that I have talked to.
I have seen them come in 6, 12, and 24s too, but that's not quite a "full" case. A case is a 30-rack. On the other hand, a keg is a 1/2 barrel, but that's a little factoid that usually confuses non-keg buyers when you say you're going to get a 1/2 barrel for your party, and they assume you're going to get a "half keg," which is generally what you think of for a 1/4 barrel pony keg.
Ah, the beer culture...

I've never in my life heard of a 30 pack referred to as a case. A case of beer is 24. They didn't start selling 30 packs until about 20 years ago when I was in college and Miller High Life started being sold in 30 packs. This was a nice way to economize instead of getting a case(24) of Keystone Light .

But yeah, they sell Keystone Light almost exclusively in 30-packs now, just so that frat boys can talk hip and say "I'm goin' out to pick up a set of 30 'Stones." Dead serious. That's how they market it.

I've never heard anyone use the term 24 pack because 24 beers is a case.

A case is two 12s put together in a cardboard box by the guy at the liquor store. Or maybe that's just the lazy way of doing it. Around here, they also like to cut 12s in half, wrap tape around the open end, and call it a 6-pack (when they're out of the real thing, that is).

Man, you got some cheap a$$ liquor store owners. Yeah, I tend not to buy at those spots. We've actually got a really good one that gets all kinds of microbrews, so that's where I usually go.

Those were the days lol Nice! When I was in college, for a short period of time the local distributor sold Ranier Beer for $6 per case. Each case had a $5 Mail in rebate. My fraternity stopped buying kegs of Milwaukee's Best and started ordering Ranier cases by the pallet. There are 77 cases in a pallet in case you were wondering.

Same here. The guy who owns the nearest liquor store is a beer afficionado, and has this huge wall of microbrews where you can buy individual bottles and "make your own 6-pack" or whatever. And as my wife and I are beer snobs, I tend to buy all sorts of those types of lesser known brews and avoid the big commercial ones like the plague.

I work in a brewery called Sleeman's, it is a premium beer that is now owned by Sapporo. We also make Old Milwaukee, Pabst, Sapporo, Upper Canada, Schlitz, Stroh's, McLay's pale ale and we used to make Rainer.
I have never heard of a 30 pack or a half keg. We have 3 sizes of kegs 58litre, 50litre and 30 litre and we call a case of beer a "two four" and 86 24 fit on a pallet of beer. We also can't buy beer or any alcohol in a store. The only places you can but beer is at the beer store and some brands at the liqour store. Our drinking age in 19 unless you live in Quebec then it is 18 and even then that is just a suggestion.

The worst beer I've ever had was called Iron City ( made in Pittsburgh) I think it was made with dirty Allegheny river water and I swear it had things swimming in it. Drink it at your own risk.

I was just up in Ashland, WI where a very good beer called South Shore Nut Brown Ale. Good stuff. Check it out if you are able to. I would compare it to Newcastle.

Iron City is pretty s----y. (Like the implied rhyme?) But as bad as that is, I'll still give the worst beer in the world award to Milwaukee's Best Light. And I've never had a Grolsch that wasn't skunky. Cool bottle, crap beer.

Years ago when I was in the service there was a place right off the base that was known to sell recapped beer. The rumors were that at the end of the night the owner would go and fill up empty bottles with beer people didn't finish and then bang a cap back on to sell it again. I cant for sure this was true but they did have something called penny beer night on wednesdays. That was beer in a shot glass for a penny. Needless to say I always examined the beer caps for tampering before drinking one.
