Holy crap. I reiterate, holy crap. I had it memorized out to 80 places in high school - I was certain I was smarter than my calculus teacher and largely ignored everything he said, so I spent each hour in his class memorizing the big pi banner he had circling the classroom. I only got up to 80 before we got into it and I transfered into a different class. This Japanese guy, though ... wow. He is awesome.

well, I only knew the first six digits to pi before myself...
true story: the unofficial fight song for MIT goes like this:
D to the X, D-X, D-Y, D to the X/DY Secant, co-sine, arc-tan, sine, three point one four one five nine!
Of course, MIT's mascott is also "The Engineer," which is usually represented by a beaver.
How scary is that, if you knew your school was facing a team called the "MIT Engineers?"

How scary is that, if you knew your school was facing a team called the "MIT Engineers?" Having gone to another technical institute in Massachusetts (also named The Engineers, IIRC, although I think our mascot might have been a goat), I can attest that our "fight song" wasn't very different (except I'm not going to spell out things when I can fake the notation): e^x dy/dx, e^x dx cosine secant tangent sine 3.14159 e, i, radical pi fight 'em, fight 'em, WPI!To this day, 10 years later (... holy crap, I'm old...), I still regret the fact that I ever learned this. Stupid freshman orientation.

you went to WPI, Chris?
I was a Tufts Jumbo myself. Massachussets was a great college state.

But uh Trav, Can we add you to the list of those who have no life? I do recall you posting a few times in the Collective, IIRC.

Yup. My two choices were there or RPI. I toured both campuses in the same week, and WPI won me over with their unique education strategy. That and Troy, NY was kind of a hole, if you catch my drift.

How scary is that, if you knew your school was facing a team called the "MIT Engineers?" We have a college here, Rose Hulman, who are the Engineers too I'm pretty sure.

Geez, when I first saw what Chris said it looked like his choices were RIP or PWI...I was like, "Man...that's a tough one..."
It's way too early...

To show my disapproval of the locking of thread, I'm going to riot. As soon as I figure out how to riot on a discussion board.

I'd have rather they locked THREAD than the boards imploded because of it. Besides, why protest when you can mourn with one of these stylish THREAD armbands that are all the rage?
