Find out when Jesus Christ Superstar will be near you and then go see it. Tha Keepah and I wemt to see what I believe was the opening show of the current tour, and we were both blown away. We're both big fans of the movie, and thusly we had certain expectations about the quality of the performance. Almost all of these expectations were met and most were exceeded, however, and this was one of the finest stage performances I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. Ted Neeley is back in the title role, and even at the advanced age of 63 he's still got it. He can hit all of the notes, he still looks the part, and he's still able to put the necessary emotion and feeling in his performance. Judas is played by Corey Glover, formerly the lead singer of Living Colour ("Cult of Personality," "Time's Up"), and he absolutely NAILED the part, especially the show's finale of "Superstar." The rest of the cast is unknown, at least to the fan at large as represented by me and the wife, but they were all good, Broadway-style performers and none of them took away from the show at all. If you're a fan of the movie or the original stage production, you will not be disappointed. If you're a fan of Andrew Lloyd Webber or musicals in general (rock operas in specific), once again you won't be disappointed. And if you're a Christian, you'll find a modern way to reflect on the meaning of your faith for two hours. Grab a loved one, get a couple of tickets, and go!

Corey Glover as Judas? That would frickin' rock! He was absolutely incredible (not that that descriptor suffices). If you've ever seen Jimmy Yang in his long white jacket outfit, that is similar to what Corey was wearing when he came out for "Superstar" at the end. I listened to the LP soundtrack recording as a child, long before I ever saw the movie, so I have a long developed opinion of how it should sound. I walked in unsure of what to expect, hoping that it would just get close to measuring up to my opinion of the movie. It did that and so much more. The nice thing is that the movie and play are different enough that neither one spoils the other. This was a priceless and once in a lifetime experience, and I honestly can't endorse it enough. Thank you, BDS, for a spectacular birthday gift that I won't ever forget.

Corey Glover as Judas? That would frickin' rock! Yeah, it pretty much frickin' rocked. The wife was a little skeptical, I think, but as soon as I heard the ad that said he'd be Judas, I was sold. I can't think of anyone who's got a voice better suited for it now that Carl Anderson isn't with us anymore. Thank you, BDS, for a spectacular birthday gift that I won't ever forget. You are most very welcome, my Love.

Every time I look at you I don't understand Why you let the things you did get so out of hand You'd have managed better if you'd had it planned Now why'd you choose such a backward time And such a strange land?
I love JCS even though I'm not Christian, or that big a fan of Broadway.

That's my wife's favorite (well, maybe tied with Rent and Joseph).
She saw it with Sabastian Bach a few years back and loved it.
We have a local ampitheater that has a couple big plays/musicals each year. It's an outside theater, except the seats are covered. But it was pretty cool to see things outside.

I will reiterate the original message ... if you're a fan of classic rock, broadway, or this show in general, get some tickets to a show within driving distance and go! You will not be disappointed.
