only recently came upon this thread, but here's a couple of contributions:
I went to high school with a kid by the last name of Derryberry (bad enough), then his parents had to give him the unfortunate first name of Jerry...
My grandmother went to church with a gentleman by the name of Harry Butz (after a while, the snickering stopped on that), who one Sunday had two of his female cousins in town to visit and the pastor, FROM THE PULPIT, announced that "we have some guests here from out of town with us today, I would like to introduce them if the 2 women with Harry Butz would please stand up..." Before she passed this was one of my grandma's favorite memories and to hear her tell it was the absolute greatest ever...

My example is no where near as bad as the rest of these but I knew a Vietnamese girl that went by Lisa. Her real name was Vi or something like that pronounced V. When people found out about that everyone would give her the peace sign because it looks like the letter. Not that funny but still an unfortunate naming.
As for Simpsons...The first 1-2 seasons sucked and every season in recent memory gets worse and worse and it still has quite a few seasons and a movie to go. Its like beating a dead horse. Let it die. Wait it is already dead...something like that.
Family guy is still funny. It was not brought back on the air because of whiny fans, it was brought back on because of massive dvd sales and great ratings on Cartoon Network. Futurama is getting some movies going straight to video for that same reason. Firefly got cancelled and not enough people cared to make any network want to restart it. Sad but true. Same with Invasion a show I loved which just got better with each episode. Now CBS just put on some cop drama or something. Like we didn't have enough of those.
