Samoa Joe vs Mitsuhara Misawa 10/27/07

This was from the NOAH promotion. On paper this sounded intriguing and I suspect some here may be interested so I decided to share. I held Misawa in very high regard back in the early to mid 90's but became turned off with AJPW in general as endless head dropping and no selling became the rage during the late 90's. I hadn't seen him in a while...but Misawa 2007 was very difficult for me to watch. If he can make money with NOAH then god bless him...but from a fan perspective he's a far cry from even his off prime period.
Samoa Joe outside of TNA constraints shows he still has a strong work ethic and can run through an entertaining high end move set (and since he carried offense for nearly the entire match he ran through just about everything in his arsenal) but his conditioning has slipped considerably from his peak a few years ago. Granted he didn't have the best opponent to work with...but cosmetic benefits aside...dropping a few dozen pounds could only help his health. He's still young so it's not too late to stop from going down the wrong path. He eerily reminds me of 'Dick Murdoch...a tremendous in ring talent who could do things other men his size couldn't...but who didn't do the right things health wise and wound up dying of a heart attack before age 50 while still active in the business. Those frequent 'gasping for breath' moments are a warning signal that should be heeded.
The crowd seemed apathetic and the finish comes literally out of nowhere. This is worth watching given the curiosity factor of who's involved...just be prepared going in.
