* Pro Wrestling NOAH to bring in the New Year! Pro Wrestling NOAH's main sponsor, the Nippon Television Network, have announced that to bring in the new year, all 39 GHC Heavyweight Title matches since NOAH's inception in 2000 will be broadcast uncut on G+, the NTV pay channel on which all NOAH live shows are broadcast. This is a great honour for NOAH. 19 hours of continuous match footage, starting on New Year's Eve 2006 and progressing till New Year's Day 2007, should be a treat for any viewers lucky enough to get the channel.
* Marufuji's 3rd Title Defense NOAH "Great Voyage '06", 12/10/06 (NTV/G+) Tokyo Nippon Budokan
1. GHC Heavyweight Title: Naomichi Marufuji (c) vs. Mitsuharu Misawa
The NOAH fans wishes will come true on the 10th of December, as the Budokan will witness a master-apprentice clash as GHC Heavyweight Champion Naomichi Marufuji defends against his former mentor Mitsuharu Misawa.
* Winter Navigation '06 Freelancers & Foreigners Announced! Yoshihiro Takayama (11/25, 11/26, 12/2) -Daisuke Ikeda (11/18) -SUWA (All shows) -Masashi Aoyagi (11/25, 11/26) -Taiji Ishimori (11/17-11/29) -Bison Smith (All shows) -Doug Williams (All shows) -Eddie Edwards (All shows) -Bryan Danielson (All shows) -Wade Chism (All shows)

(Really exciting news for NOAH as Danielson heads over for the winter tour. Kind of iffy on the Misawa/Marufuji match, as it seems like Misawa is definitely not gonna put Marufuji over. Of course, none of us expected Akiyama to do it either. I think the fact that NOAH is bringing in the New Year is just too good of a sign for the promotion for me to leave out in these little "notes".)

Should be even if I'm not a huge American Dragon fan. NOAH can put on some really good shows.

I guess this is just going to become the one and only NOAH thread. Marufuji vs. Taue 3/5/06It doesn't quite have the epic feel of Danielson/McGuinness 8/12/06 but this is definitely a top five match of '06. Taue does so much with so little here and Marufuji always brings the working boots. The ending portion of this match is very, very, very strong. The only problem is how short the match is but it definitely makes up for that with the emotion and storytelling. I'd probably go **** even on this one.

It's always nice to see people on these boards who apperciate GOOD wrestling. And although I don't have much time to follow puroresu, I do very much enjoy it. From strong style to garbage, Japanese wrestling is some of the best in the world.

No one updates the NOAH thread during my absences?
That makes me sad.

So many Japanese promotions to follow, so little time. I usually get what info I can through ROH but the NOAH Puroresufan site doesn't update as regularly as the other feds.

It's pretty difficult to watch Misawa these days. Without exaggerating one bit, he's long passed the point where he should be doing opening-card comedy matches with Mitsuo Momota--he looks that bad.
The sad thing is it's not really a case of ego run amok--Lord knows Misawa has tried to find 3 or 4 guys to be "the next one," and the title always ends up with him again anyway. Akiyama plateaued after an incredible rookie year. Rikio was a bust. Marufuji as Heavyweight champion was treated as a joke. Kobashi got too banged up and is now fighting cancer. Taue's run was nice but sort of a token "thanks for all the hard work" company run than an attempt to make him the face of the company.
Morishima shows promise as a Terry Gordy clone and Shiosaki should be a good one, but do the Japanese fans buy them as title-holders?
I dunno...NOAH is probably the best quality promotion in the country right now, but it seems that ever since Kobashi went down, it's a string of random 6-man tag matches with a tour-ending main event that follows the same "head drops, 2 counts, and moves off the apron" formula that pretty much peaked back in 2003.

I think Dragon Gate is way more entertaining what little I get to see of it. I wish there were more singles matches in NOAH given the style they work.

I have to say, try and see the Jr Tag title match between Ricky Marvin & Kotaro Suzuki and Kenichiro Arai & Taku Iwasa (from Dragon Gate's Tozawa-juku). Awesome, awesome, awesome tag match. The same show (6/3 Hokkaido Sports Center) also had a great clash between Naomichi Marufuji and Taiji Ishimori. God I love puro after watching those two matches.
