Naomichi Marufuji, the newly crowned GHC Heavyweight Champion, will defend his title this weekend in ROH at Glory By Honor in New York City. Marufuji was already scheduled to wrestle Nigel McGuinness on the card, and that match has now been made a GHC Heavyweight Championship match. If I'm not mistaken (and someone please clear me up if I am), this is the first time the GHC Heavyweight Championship has been defended in the US.

AWESOME that Marufuji won! NOAH really has it going on. I'm glad they have such a relationship with Ring of Honor.
I was hoping to wait until the show was done downloading for me to see who won, but... oh well haha

Really, really surprised they put the belt on Marufuji already. Great talent but I hope his reign doesn't suffer a Rikio-like backlash.
It finally appears that a promotion in Japan is putting some faith in the Next Generation. KENTA, Marufuji, Morishima, and possibly Shiosaki look like the next Four Corners. Morishima in particular has superstar written all over him.
Marufuji's reign would immediately be improved if he threatened to sell off the GHC title while in America, the way Minoru Suzuki threatened to put all 3 Triple Crown belts on eBay.
