Kishin Liger won his match at the CTU Anniversary Show today for NJPW. He was facing BADBOY Hido in a match that had been coming since April.
You see way back in the day Jushin "Thunder" Liger was in a match with the Great Muta. Muta was up to his many dastardly tricks which went to the extreme when he tore off Liger's mask! Under the mask though, was Liger's face painted white as a ghost with black and red stripes! A bloody Liger then ripped off his top to reveal black "tatoos" striping his upper torso as well. Ths "version" of Liger came to be known as Kishin (or demon, ghost, spectre, etc. depending on who you ask).
Flash forward to '06 and in April, Liger had just won a match against Hido. Hido jealous and enraged took a pair of scissors and cut some of Liger's hair.
So yesterday/today Kishin Liger returned to the ring in a bloody affair that saw barbed wire, scissors, and a screwdriver put to use! Both wrestlers bled and in the end Liger stood victorious after dropping Hido on a pile of chairs with a brainbuster.
I can sense a bootleg of Kishin somewhere.... Hmmmm

LWPD (Muta's booking was heavily influenced by the 'sports entertainment' elements he was exposed to while working in the US...for better or worse he introduced many wacky concepts like this into New Japan)

ahem..
SUUUUPAFISHAMENSBUSTAAAAAAAA!
I like the Kishin gimmick. You can't go wrong with a edgier version of Liger.
Can't believe they used scissors though. Scissors?! OH MY GOD!

I have a bootleg of Jushin Liger called Rushin "Devil" Liger who is supposed to be a darker version of him.

This match to me was very intense... as i said i dont know them all to well, but they seemed to hate each other and have a long history... LOVED the match, i need to see more!

You're very welcome Brotherfury It's always good to see new blood on the board. If you have a serious interest in learning more about different styles and eras of pro wres you may get some value out of checking out what's been archived in my 'Good' Pro Wres Streaming Links Project. You'll find that both Muta and Liger are very well represented with-in the mix. As a start...listed below are some streaming match recommendations that focus on high end JTL. Especially note his series with Sano...which was groundbreaking in terms of being innovative for it's time. The Sasuke match is one of my all time favorites from the NJPW Juniors genre...and watching him work with performers as diverse as Benoit (Pegasus Kid), Mysterio and The Steiners provides a nice glimpse of his range.
