It looks like it could be a good game

Direct quotes from the site:
"The two were sick and tired of having to choose between an absurd beer and pretzels game and some goofy video game....."
"If you’re looking for a goofy insect-like wrestler, an animalistic humanoid or a robotic grappler to play, then you’re out of luck here. Some wrestling game companies have made a living by leeching off the industry and producing crap like this for years. Not us. We are bringing you a REALISTIC and EXCITING product based on the entertainment you know and love. We don’t have wrestlers named ‘Tough’ Joe, or ‘Bad’ John either. These ridiculous gimmicks don’t cut it in our gaming universe. If you like kick-ass, no-nonsense anti-heroes like Superbandit, the ruthless technical warrior Eric Wooden, or a vampire bent on destruction named Bosferatu..."
Taking potshots, eh?
I really like how they talk of "goofy" and "inane" wrestlers, and then in the same paragraph mention "a vampire bent on destruction named Bosferatu". Ha, what a crock of sh it!
I would not have minded the competition, but to come out and bash a product that's been around for nearly twenty years is absolutely inane. They could have marketed this as game, but to take shots at CotG is crap. .It is aparent they looked into CotG; nobody told them to drink that Kool Aid if they did not like it. Perhaps they would have gotten some business from the loyal faction here if they did not slam our game.
Screw the pretending bastiches!
They lost my interest

i think that the wrestling wars game looks really good. i like champions and all, but, in all due respect to turkish, there are very real problems with both champions and the wrestling video game industry. when was the last time you played a video game based on wrestling that didn't leave you wanting more? AND, frankly, a lot of the characters and setting in COTG can be ridiculous at times. either way, this could be just like the monday night wars of the gaming industry. i think a shake-up has been long overdue. i am very tempted to try out this new game. whether it is as good as COTG, i'll have to judge that first hand.

Lots of new "guests" here today...
As I said in the thread on this board in the Other Games section, I am not told anything about the game other than it is a stat card and dice game that is "cooler" and "more realistic than all the rest". My complaint is not that a new game was on the market, but that the website does not tell the reader much, just bashes other games.. It never even explains how it is different or better than the other games.
I honestly was very interested in the game. But don't tell me to come look at your nice green yard and then throw your weeds on mine and tell me yours is better.
Due to poor business practices, I'll pass on this game and continue to play with my bug warriors and ridiculous aliens.

Thought I was the only one who noticed all the new "guests" and all the MISSING info about the new game.
Stay on 'em, Turkmeister!! I agree with your posts and your official position on this belly-aching, coattail-riding mess of a game.

i agree that the wrestlingwars.net guys need to tell us more, but i think that they did give us some insight into what they are offering beyond the idea that their prduct is somehow cooler and better. i could tell what the cards looked like from the pics and i can tell that the game has something to offer, whether that offering has substance beyond being really edgy and agressive, i don't know. it does not look like a bootleg, but more like a newer kind of game in the cotg vein. i admit that is a bit speculative though. as far as the bashing they seem to be doing, it is no different than what you see amongst wrestling companies or other industries. not that that is an altogether great thing, but it is not enough to turn me off from a new experience. i'm not saying that i'm abandoning cotg after 12 years of loyal fandom. i'll always keep up with tom's games. heck, i own every video console despite the rampant fanboydom and inter-company digs that crop up all the time. :Di just don't think its justified to attack negativity with negativity. besides, wrestling has always been about conflict and controversy, that is a big reason most of us watch it in the first place.

i don't know about other guests, but i don't think its fair to make people who want to connect with other cotg fans feel unwelcome just because they don't have a bunch of stars under their screen names. as a frequent guest on many sites, i don't usually hear this kind of talk.

Things I could tell from the pictures:
1) The front looks a lot like a CotG card, with weaker art.
2) The back looks a LOT like a CotG card, complete with headshot, although there's FOUR levels of offense and defense instead of three.
3) The cards fold open, for some reason.
I like how they include 24 wrestlers (where did that number come from, I wonder?), a collector's box, instructions and charts (all sounding familiar) for only ten dollars more than the CotG set! Whoo! Awesome! I'm...not sold.
Tim Flimflammer? Pathetic. Seriously pathetic.

"Byron was often bored and uninterested in his high school classes (even though he has an IQ of 145!) so he decided to use his time to develop the WWO. He and Daniel worked closely playing out angles and programs that were nearly 15 years ahead of their time (for example; people getting hit with cars, anti-heroes, and multi-faceted cage matches). When you put Daniel and Byron together the result is a creative juggernaut that delivers the most original and fascinating world of wrestling ever created."
This whole thing just smells of some giant joke/scam. Kinda feelin' bad now for anyone who might have sent them money.

The Game is the mechanism that connects us, but the friendships we have with each other is really what binds us. I would hope that everyone here would defend the game, because we are defending our friendship as well. When you badmouth the COTG, it is like someone badmouthing a good friend, so we get a bit defensive. We don't have a problem with guests (at least i don't think we do) because it is through guests that we expand our COTG Family. But you can't come here...to the COTG board...drop a game that looks to have a very similar system on us, not to mention flat out smacks us in the face in its front page of advertising and not expect us to defend ourself. Trust me, this has nothing to do with how much info i put about myself in my profile or how many posts i have...but it definitely has to do with a matter of respect when you come to our house You tel me what do you think the likely scenario/response would be if i went to the board they have linked and started bashing their product? I have a felling the response would be much worse than you have seen here...just an odd inkling on my part with how they have already referred to us. Notice the use of the word "us" not "me" because it is definitely an "US" when you are referring to the COTG Family.

I don't know about what other people might do on their sites. All I am saying is that, if you want to attack a specific guest for bad behavior, I can deal with it. But, going on about all of the 'guests' in here is not welcoming. I play COTG because I like it, not because I need any more friends or family members, not that any of you are beneath that. I don't mean to disrespect anyone by saying that I will try a new thing. I am speaking my truth. That is all. And after spending a lot of money on COTG games, I helped to build this house and feel just as much right to it as anyone. No offense intended, that is just how i feel.

Questioning is not negativity. Sure I understand that "inter-company digs" happen all the time, it does not make it right, ever. If the CotG site had some quote or blurb claiming that all other games were crap, or do not go out and try anything else, then I probably would not have made my conention. But since this sort of text does not exist on this site (other than this message board which is a separate entity), you honestly cannot expect people who have called Fed HQ with a problem or a concern and talked to the game game designer or his wife, and gotten speedy, overly helpful, honest and friendly customer service not to take umbrage at libelous innuendos. As Pete Beck said, it is about family and friendship here as much as the wrestling game. I still hold that these kind of "inter-company digs" will drive away what should have been easy customers.

I looked at that site for about ten seconds, saw what the cards looked like, and then saw some thing called "tim's brainstem" or something to that effect and instantly x'd it out.
Do they not realize when making fun of bug wrestlers and robots in cotg that the same company offers a game with some of the greatest legends to ever grace the ring? What a joke.

I'm locking this topic, since it's more advertisement than "favorite" website. All WrestlingWars discussion should take place in this thread in the Other Games forum.
