Here are a few of the great sites to get news, pics and videos of upcoming videogames: www.ign.com - Updated daily, this site covers movies, dvd's and every game there is. It's by far my favorite site. www.gamespot.com - Almost as loaded with game news as IGN. Also has a slightly better game review system and community review option. www.gameinformer.com - I've subscribed to the magazine for more than a decade, and I really like the website. It ususally updates every afternoon around 6:00pm, and they get a lot of exclusives that no one else gets.

www.gamerankings.com is invaluable for Video Game reviews, as they collect and rank reviews from all over the net and most major print publications as well. I write reviews for www.discreaderror.com when the mood strikes me. The language is not always family-friendly, but it's largely clean unless something really irritates us; the forums are much less clean, however, so be warned. www.1up.com is sort of the sister site of Electronic Gaming Monthly (and the other Ziff Davis mags), which is one of the best-known gaming mags around.

Check out www.gamefaqs.com for reviews, faqs, messege boards, etc! It has listings for ALL games and systems (from Atari 2600 to PS2, from NES to the PC)!

My only problem with 1up.com is the same one I have with Ziff Davis. Back in 2002, I spoke with the editing staff and a representative in charge of Human resources about why the company largely refuses to employ African Americans. I got to do this in front of a large panel at an EB Games fall conference. Many of their responses were so primitive that it became hard for many of us there to continue our support of the company.
Also, one of the members there virtually confirmed the notion that Ziff Davis' policy is to promote and positively review those games and products from companies that are willing to spend more money with the magazine(s). This is why "Shoe" started making the "We aren't bought off by Sony" disclaimers in virtually every issue of EGM that came out in 2002-2003 (it was largely believed that Sony's gross overspending with Ziff Davis [and their millions of dollars in free contributions to Ziff Davis] underscored their abnormally high marks on game reviews and secured them an unshakeable comfort position in all Ziff publications).
I read EGM, and every blue moon, I check the site. Like many fans and most of the people who were on-hand for this conference (about 4000), I take anything they do or say with a grain of salt. Sure, they may have changed. However, recent information suggests otherwise. As for their employment policies, at last check (beginning of 2005), their minority hiring practices had not changed at all.

Yeah, I'm probably not going to renew my EGM subscription when it comes around again. Whatever else they may claim, their bias is pretty obvious. The tricky thing is that their reviews aren't biased (which is why I suggested them as a good source thereof), but at times their articles are hard for me to read without throwingthe mag down in disgust.
I hadn't noticed the lack of African-Americans on the staff (it's not something I check), but now that you mention it I do see it.

IGN. Hands down. Also a great site for movie reviews and stuff too.

I love gamespot.com because their reviews are almost always dead on. And they don't just say," this game is good," or "this game sucks." Rather, they tell you what they found during trial plays. Usually, I'll look at control and value mostly; control to see if it's easy to control, and value to make sure I'm not spending 450 on a game I'll toss aside in 2 days.
