Clearly Cena is the man right now in the E. But, which currently active wrestler do you think is number two in the pecking order right now?
15-Kain. Retains heat despite squash to Kahli. Seems they build him up as an unstopable monster, just so the next up and comer can stop him. not #2, but it wouldn't take much to get him there.
14-Kahli. I've tried but I could never get into the charter, I find him to be the least interesting character in recent memory (that includes Tatanka: the return). The average fan might think more of him than I do, but I doubt its enough to make him #2.
13-Lashley. ECW champ, victory over Umaga, still improving. But, I can't help but notice the fans at ringside don't seem to be as into him as the others on the list. If he improves his Mic skills he might have what it takes to reach the #2 spot. For now he seems to be fighting just to get into the top 10.
12-MVP. He just keeps getting better and better and the fans seem to be taking notice. Right now he might not yet be in the top 10, but it wouldn't surprise me if a month from now he's in the top 5, but he's not #2.
11-C.M. Punk. Gets lots of fan support, but is still a mid-carder. If he keeps his support he'll get his chance. But he's not near #2 right now.
10-RVD. Declining, but is still up there with Lashley and Punk in the ECW ranks. Maybe still higher than both. has ability to reclaim championship form. Was #2 to Cena when champ But, he no longer is.
9-Benoit. For almost his entire career he has been the dividing line between Main eventer and Mid-carder. If your better than the wolverine your a main eventer. Almost as good; the top of the mid card. Little has changed. I think the fans see him as someone who it's impressive to beat but not #2.
8-Mr. Kennedy. Temporarily holding down Benoit spot in the grey area between Mainevnent and Mid card. Probably the most likely guy right now to push Cena off his perch. How he handles his MIB status could determine how high he rises or how far he falls. He's great, but not #2...yet.
7-Batista. Declining, but is still someone who can win championships. A big fall in prestige sense his injury, but still a main event wrestler, no longer in the top three.
6-Umaga. Losses at the two biggest PPV of the year might have slowed his momentum. I still think the fans see him as a main event guy, but not #2.
5-Randy Orton. recent push seems to have helped. Benefited the most from Edges injury. Chance he could be #1 one day, but not even #2 right now.
4-Edge. If anyone can lay claim to being more over than Cena at any point in the last two years, it's Edge. Even injured and not wrestling for the last couple months Edge retains his heat. Best pure heel in the business today. The injury keeps him out of the the top two spots..for now.
3-HBK. #2 man going into Wrestle Mania; #3 coming out. Can still bring it an excite the fans
and my opinion of who the average fan think of as #2...The Undertaker. If you told me I'd be typing that over the last few years I'd of had you committed. He was a special attraction main event; he'd get loud pop's when appeared, but I don't think many people saw him as champion again. Right now he's riding a crest in his popularity and his days in the #2 spot might not last long. But it doesn't matter, he is number 2 right now.
