Kray-Con is a fair guess, considering the fact that the monster in the second Pirates of the Carribean movie (Kraken) was pronounced that way. But then there is nothing about Invincible Krakan that resembles a giant jellyfish, so I digress... Pintel: I always heard it said "Kray-kin" Ragetti: What? With a long A? Nah "Krock-en"'s how it's pronounced in the original Scandinavian, and "Krack-en"'s closer to that. Pintel: Well we ain't original Scandinavians, are we? Ragetti: It's a mythological creature, I can calls it what I wants! Tim...Chad...I know you remember this! We all looked at each other and just started smiling and laughing. No one else in the Jamestown Theater had a clue as to why it was so FUNNY! Great Stuff...and i have always used "krA-can" as my pronunction and MASS-if.

Pete, Chad and I went to see Pirates 2 in Jamestown on Sunday night after GalactiCon. We were laughing much harder at this bit than anyone else in the theater just because of the GWF connection.
For the record, I pronounced it "Kray-kin" - and I'm not Scandanavian.

Some of the ones I've been saying wrong for years (even after I found out what the correct pronunciation was; like Mark said, it's hard to change old habits).
MASS-IF THAN-TOSE CRACK-ON ATH-RAH DEE-MOSE

I've been pronouncing that "Fill-Singer". Don't tell me it's "File-Slinger" instead...

My 7th grade art teacher said her last name the same way Tom does. Never been a problem. You, obviously, don't know your German pronunciations, and for someone with your last name, that's disheartening. Then again, you don't say yours anywhere near what a German would!
(I could be completely wrong about your name being German, but I think I know one when I see one! And no, I don't mean "Master.")

I guess families that have been in America long enough don't necessarily pronounce their names like their ancestors did. If I were in Germany I'd probably pronounce my first name with a "V" but I don't. When I say Todd's last name out loud (which I do frequently) I pronounce it with a "J" when I know it probably should be with a "Y".

I have always refered to Krakan as Crack-in, like in the movie Clash of the Titans when Posiden yelled release the Crack-in. And for the record Tom pronounces Renard B. Guile as Ray-nard. And Steve Minskoff started calling Tom, Thomas as in Tom-ass. Ahhh good times, good times.

First of I am quite freaked out that you say my name out loud on a frequent basis... And yeah you guys are right, my last name is German and should be pronounced Your-Khel...where as I usually pronounce it Joor-shell. I guess my family picked up a French pronunciation along the way. I butcher names all the time...as evident by many Galacticon experiences.

Hey, can anyone tell me how to pronounce the second part of that robot's name who managed W.A.R.? A lot of people say "Destruct ion 3000." Look at the card closer and you'll see no "i" in it. I've always said de - STRUK - tahn three thousand. That is who you're talking about, right?

I always used Dee-Mohs for Diemos, mostly because my Halloween ppvs always took over the arena, meaning they revamped the entire arena in a Halloween theme. One year, it took place at "Demons, Mars."
I always used crack-in out of habit.
How do you pronounce Rack's name?
Take care,
Jay
