It was said in another thread that Umaga is better than anyone in Memphis wrestling history. I disagreed, but what do you all think? My vote goes to Lawler. I like Umaga and all, but... yeah.

Umaga definitely looks like he came straight from the Wrestlecrap of Memphis Wrestling...a rip off of Kimala. That may insult Kimala, but more like Bota the Witchdoctor.
Umaga would have defeated Lawler for the title, probably on the first try. It would take several weeks of build up...several rematches where both may win a match on a DQ or something like that.
But in the blowoff...Lawler piledrives him, regains the Southern Title and sends Umaga packing to get another gimmick.
But yes, Umaga is still better than Macho Warrior Ric Hogan. And yes, I would have used him to squish that little turd J.C. Ice.

Lawler's done alot for wrestling over the years . What's Umaga done squashed Eugene , Ric Flair , Maria and Kane . And I'm a Umaga fan saying that .

C'mon this is getting silly........LAWLER IS A LEGEND..... Travis was meerly saying that the UMAGA gimmick was memphis like... He'll get a push.......he'll loose...........he'll be repackaged, or maybe end up as a top contender in TNA......

Lawler is a legend. Umaga will probably get a push thru WM and then fall down to midcard.

this is a joke poll right?
On one hand you have a Legend...on the other... a Samoan guy with a savage gimmick and a shiny grill...he isnt what I would call Wrestlecrap (that honor goes to Rikishi Phatu), I would just call him another gimmick that will eventually run dry

Voted for Lawler -- this is like asking who's a better all-time star between Hulk Hogan and the Shockmaster.

Umaga is ten times the wrestler Lawler ever was. The only reason people think Lawler is so good is because he eventually made it to the WWF.
I've seen tons of his matches. he sucked.
If he hadn't been singed to the WWF, he would be a washed up red neck nobody like every other jobber that wrestled in Memphis.
Lawler should kiss Vince's butt cause if it weren't for him, nobody would know who the hell he was anyways.
Nobody cares about Bill Dundee, and he was just as popular as Lawler if not more. Know why? cause he never made it in the WWF.
meanwhile, Umaga is the greatest monster heel in over a decade.

not sure I'd go "last decade" on that one...That would include Yokozuna, Brock Lesner and the Undertaker... Best Monster heel since Brock..? I'd give you that....

Lawler had a simple grasp on psychology and most of the time, pacing. Umaga has neither. He's like the John Grisham of wrestling, strictly by the numbers. He's boring and pretty darn awful. The crowd really doesn't care about him, thus making him a mid-card heel. Not a monster heel.
The best monster heel of the last decade: Vader.

Rob, we are trying to have a legit discussion on this and, like your typical four year old responses, it's always "suck". That's all it ever is. But thanks for the contribution. We already know what you are the authority of....

I'll still say Brock...I hate the decisions he's made (you know, throwing his career away and all that), but Brock Lesner would turn Umaga into chicken soup faster than you can say "BLAHAGHGGHELAHGGHH!!!!"....

Ten years ago still includes his WWF run, WHICH makes him eligible.
Yes. It's reaching, but dammit, I love Vader.

Ross, do I need to put that video of Vader falling on his butt on Raw on here!!! lol But kidding aside....Vader was awesome! Personally, maybe one of the top 5 monster heels of all time!!! Simply awesome in his time! Hogan and him could have did big business...but Hogan and that ego...

Vader has barely been a factor from 1996-2006 -- if you're talking about the last decade being the 90's I would agree that Vader was the best -- with Yokozuna being a close second. I love Vader too and if Umaga couldn't lace Lawler's boots he certainly couldn't lace Vader's.

I assume you're not counting Vader's time in Japan, because he's still been quite the factor there.
