As announced on WWE.com, Mysterio will face Orton. Whether you read the spoilers or not, we may find out the answer very soon. Personally, I think Rey will be a transitional champ for when Batista is ready to wrestle again. I don't know if it will be to Orton on Smackdown! but certainly by next PPV he will lose it or have already lost it. What do you think?

Well, I would have Batista kill him on Tuesday (instead of Orton) and then sit on the belt until healthy, but I like Batista more than I do anyone else in WWE, so I'm being a blind mark about it...=)

They definately set up Orton-Batista last night, so I expect to see Orton win the title very soon (I'm guessing this week). Question is, what happens to Angle in all of this, considering he was never actually pinned?

An "undisputed" match between Angle and Batista at SummerSlam, since Angle was never pinned, but never beat Batista for the belt, either?

I hope they don't do a hotshot title switch(makes me think of Foley winning it at SS only to drop it to Hunter the next nite and Kane's one day title reign) Hopefully it will at least last to the next PPV.

God I hope not...I can't stomach Rey now...Friday will be painful...a month and a half title reign will SUCK.

I'm glad they gave Rey his moment in the sun, but I hope he doesn't hang on too long. I think he'll be a transitional champ.
He has been a hard worker his whole career and always puts on a great match with just about every guy he faces. I think this was Vince's way of rewarding one of his top workhorses.

I would love to see Rey Rey have a lengthy title reign but lets face it he is a transitional champion, he will lose it to Batista or Angle to set up an Angle/Batista run that will be phenomenal if done right.

I think he's conditionally transitional...I think he's going to hold the belt for 2 months, 3 tops...he's going to surprise everyone and actually defend the belt well for a time, until he gets back in the ring with Angle or Batista...
in case I'm wrong with that, Orton has pulled out a LOT of surprise wins, so if Rey faces Orton after Smackdown, Rey will be in trouble...

Orton's suspension might throw things off kilter. I was guessing Rey would drop the belt to Orton at the next Smackdown PPV, then Orton would drop it to Batista at Summerslam.
Now I'm not sure. I love Rey and would like a good long reign, but I know what he has working against him. His size does make it hard to book him as heavyweight champion. He can be believable against Angle, Benoit, or Orton...but put him in the ring with the Undertaker or Batista and it's a harder sell.
I hope he holds it for a bit, but I'd say a few months is probably the top limit on his reign.

I have to agree there offspring, Ortons suspension will throw a spin on things and it will be interesting to see how this plays out now. Plus that belt will look like a chest plate on Rey!
