Any thoughts? I thought that even though they didn't win a RR, Rick Martel, Bob Blacklund, and Greg Valentine should earn a special mention for their longevity in previous Rumbles. The worst of all time? Bushwacker Luke.

Gotta go with Flair when he won the RR to become WWF Champion. What was he #3, I think. I remember when I was watching and Bobby Heenan was so upset when Flair's music hit for #3 and I was thinking "there's no way he's gonna win."
Little did I know..... ;D

The best performance was by Chris Benoit in 2004 (with Ric Flair as close second). He entered as No. 1 and wrestled for over one hour to win the Royal Rumble (not like Shawn Michaels in 1995, who only wrestled for 38:40 minutes).

I voted for Flair but would like to mention Kane. I can't remember which Rumble it was but he set the record for most eliminations.

The worst of all time? Bushwacker Luke. I believe that Bret Hart was in for a long time before being tossed, but I forgot what year (it was before his "tie" with Luger in 1994; I want to say 1989 or 1991). I also thought the quickest in/out was Gillberg (again, I forogt which year, probably 1999). I didn't see Benoit's Rumble so I have to go with Flair. That was awesome, especially when nobody thought he had a chance! The icing on the cake was that Hogan didn't win! In HBK's book, he never mentions that his first Rumble win was at one-minute intervals instead of two. I guess it's sort of like Piper claiming he went 15 years without being pinned.

Shawn Michaels was in for about 2 seconds at the '91 RR (I think-it's the one where Hogan/Warrior squared off) he was in and right back out by The Warrior. The Warlord also had a quick in/out RR although I can't remember which one.

I went with Flair just because of how shocked I was also that he actually won after drawing 3. That Rumble had so many past or future world champs in it, not to mention guys like Piper. I'm pretty sure Flair's winning rumble had HBK, Hitman, Hogan, Savage, Kerry Von Erich, Sid Justice, and maybe even Rick Martel.

I think Royal rumble you are talking about w/ Kane was the Royal Rumble of 2001. That was the same one Stone Cold one his last Royal Rumble. Now to my favorite Royal Rumble Performer. HOOOOOOOOO!!! Did you forget the 1st Royal rumble? LOW member Hacksaw Jim Duggan eliminating the one man gang at the very end. That was before the Royal Rumble was on Pay-per-view. It was on USA.

the first one was also cool. when the first 2 in were Ax and Smash of Demolition. That wasn't the first one. The first one was in 1988 (the one Jon E Diamond SE mentioned, on USA). Ax and Smash started things off in 1989 or 1990 (again, I can't remember). My favorite RR moment ever would have to be when all 3 members of Too Cool (Grandmaster Sexay, Scotty 2 Hotty, & Rikishi) ended up in the ring alone and started doing their dance routine, with the lights flashing end everything. I about lost my lunch it was so da*n funny ;D

If I am remembering this correctly, Rikishi threw out both Grandmaster Sexay and Scotty 2 Hotty after they started their dance routine and while they were still alone in the ring.

What about Bob Backlund in 1993? He last over an hour in there, even though he didn't win.

Bob Blacklund in 1993 was memorable. Shortly thereafter, didn't he turn into the nutty old man? Sadly, this is a character he still play whenever he appears on TV still. I never understood the back drop to that.....why Blacklund, after all these years, stills insists on playing the silly old man who doesn't get "today's society" when most of his career (the championship days) were dignified.
