Of all the wrestlers with official LOW cards, who do you think was the greatest heel in the history of professional wrestling?
Earlier today from Barnes and Nobles, I got the book "The Heels" that was put out by the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame. In addition to discussing many other classic heels, the book lists the top 20 heels of all time and, as already mentioned by bladeflyer and others in the books forum on this board, LOW has the top 4 heels of all time and a total of 10 of the top 20.
This is where the wrestlers from LOW rank on the top 20 heels of all time according to the list in "The Heels":
#1 Buddy Rogers #2 Gorgeous George #3 The Sheik #4 Mad Dog Vachon #7 Johnny Valentine #8 The Destroyer #9 Killer Kowalski #10 Harley Race #13 Nick Bockwinkel #17 Ray Stevens
Alot of people on this board really know their wrestling history. So I was wondring if in your opinion you agree or not that Buddy Rogers is the greatest heel in the history of professional wrestling.

I'm voting Sheik.
I spoke with Greg Oliver this past weekend at the IWIM dinner in Iowa. Great guy. I'll be picking up his book soon. He and his wife just had a baby, so it might be a couple of years before I see him at the dinner again.
I've always considered Sheik, Blassie and Rogers the top 3.
Where did he have Blassie ranked?

Blassie was ranked #6 right behind #5 "Wild" Bill Longson.

Hmm. It's close. You have the original prissy boy that can get heat with ease in George. You have the foreign maniac in Sheik. You have the tanned well spoken nature boy.
Gotta go with Rogers. He's the world champion in my fed and I'm even getting mad at him that he still holds on to the title.
I was interested why Mad Dog Vachon was so high.

Tim, Any new contacts at the dinner? Nothing certain. Talked to a few potential contacts and passed their info along to Tom to make the big pitch. There are still a couple of previous "no" people that the Olsons and I are trying to soften up.

I had to go with Bockwinkel. Sheik is good but he hasn't had as big of a role as Bockwinkel. Dibiase has also been a big time heel.

Buddy Rogers for me . Then Harley Race and Nick Bockwinkel . AMAZINGLY The Sheik became a hero in my federation . After his manager got lost at the airport in a flight mix up (Tom forgot to include him in the package . So he arrived late) . Bobby Heenan and DDP did it (mixed up his flight) .

Sheik was a face in my fed as well, but then again, The Turk can turn just about anyone face.
I thought this topic was about top heels in our own fed, so I voted for Kowalski.
And Hogan's not offically in LOW so he can't be counted in a vote.
I'll stick with Kowalski as he's the only one I've seen wrestle (I'm not counting Race's horrible excuse for wrestling in WWF). Anyone who rips off his opponent's ear, then goes to the hospital and laughs at him (half-truth which became kayfabe) is pretty much a top heel in my book.
Take care,
Jay

For "personal reasons", I'm voting for Nick Bockwinkel. He stole the Barnestormer's valet, dressed her up like a dog and made her do "stupid pet tricks", then turned her against the Barnestormer, injuring him to the point where he was forced to give up the LWF Heavyweight title. During the recent OWP hiatus, he decided that she "outlived her usefullness to him" and dumped her, and now he's running scared from the Barnestormer by claiming that he has a "stomach ailment" and making other wrestlers face the Barnestormer (first Lum-Chan, Chairman of Triple-Six Japan [aka, Gothic Princess], then most recently, Don Leo Jonathan. Interim LWF Commisioner Zachary Carter has decided enough is enough and told Bockwinkel that he has one week to "get well", because on the next LWF card, he will face the Barnestormer in a Shock Collar re-match, no excuses and no one allowed at ringside; and this time if Bockwinkel attempts to get out of the match, he will be fired on the spot.

Gotta go with Harley Race. Every role he played, he was just awesome.

I'm so embarrassed...I didn't even know Rogers was a heel. Makes sense, given Flair used his moniker, and Flair is a heel.
I personally voted the Sheik...there is no denying he is a heel.

Bock. The combination of him and Heenan drive the crowds nuts. Sheik is #2. Rogers and Race bounce on the fan's affections. Sometimes they're really hated and other times, they get a measure of respect.

I was pretty much split between The Sheik and Bockwinkel, but voted Bock as he usually dominated for me.
