My Major League Wrestling (MLW) fed recently expanded by "signing" many new wrestlers. As a result, I decided to create a brand split for Major League Wrestling and the two brands are the AWA and the NWA. I had a draft that I posted on my fed thread in which the AWA and NWA brands selected all of the rosters on Major League Wrestling's roster. But since World Champion Nick Bockwinkel was drafted by the AWA brand the NWA now needs its own champion.
To solve this problem, Major League Wrestling (MLW) owner and general manager Bruno Sammartino has declared that the championship for the NWA will be a new title called the MLW Championship and, to start off the new MLW brand NWA, a 24 man tournament will be held from Thursday July 27 through Saturday July 29 with 8 matches per night!
The following 8 wrestlers have received a First Round bye from Sammartino's office:
United States Champion Buddy Rogers
Frank Gotch
Harley Race
Giant Baba
Dan Severn
Bruiser Brody
Rick Rude
Ted DiBiase (Legends Teams card)
In addition to Rogers, Gotch, Race, Baba, Severn, Brody, Rude, and DiBiase, the following 16 NWA wrestlers will participate in the tournament:
Diamond Dallas Page
Ivan Koloff
Steve Williams
Bob Orton Sr.
Richard Hutton
Killer Kowalski
Danny Hodge
Terrible Turk
Steve Corino
Sandman
Justin Credible
Billy "Red" Lyons
Dennis Condrey
Boogie Woogie Man
"Precious" Paul Ellering
Virgil
Will United States Champion Buddy Rogers win the tournament and thus become BOTH the MLW Champion and the United States Champion? Will Frank Gotch, the NWA's first pick in last week's MLW draft, justify his high selection by winning the tournament? Will Harley Race, long denied a title shot in Major League Wrestling because former fellow Heenan Family member Nick Bockwinkel held the World Championship, rise to this long-awaited championship opportunity? Or perhaps will one of the newly-signed wrestlers such as Rude, Brody, or DiBiase be the last of the 24 competitors still standing on Saturday?
