Hi everyone,
I have been lurking on these boards for a while now. I have been a fan of COTG for a few years now, but I only had exposure to 2087 that I played at friend's home. I bought my first introductory set a couple months back, and a couple cards from ebay.
I am excited about exploring all of the other sets out there, but I do not know the best way to acquire them. Should I drop the money for the Storm the Ring Set? Will that come with each of the handbooks and the updated charts? Or should I purchase them set by set? What are the most important things that I need to get the most out of my games?
I look forward to becoming a part of this community. I am going to start posting my 2087 results soon.

It would be cheaper to get the Storm the Ring which includes all the GWF Sets+Handbooks
There is also a Storm the aCe package as well
SE/LE Cards,Classics,CPC+Charts are etc
Best thing to do is to contact Tom with what you are interested in ordering and he will give you the cost for it
Storming the Ring can also save you some money as its a discounted price so if you can afford it I say go for it and get it

Hi Starwolf,
My understanding is that Storm the Ring comes with all GWF handbooks, but not the updated charts. Storm the Ring is a phenominal value, if you can afford to buy it and are confident that you will be running a Fed that will have a long life span it makes a lot of sense to go for it.
Another option that you may not be aware of is NEW BEGINNING. New Beginning will give you everything you need to start a GWF Fed in the year 2119. The storyline is such that you don't need to be aware of past GWF history to get full enjoyment out of New Beginning, and you can always "go back" and explore the earlier GWF years at a later date. This would give you the advantage of running a Fed that is current with most of those that post on these boards.
If you do decide to begin in 2087 and do not mind spoilers, I highly recommend The GWF Files 2nd Edition. It includes bios for all GWF wrestlers up to 2115, and is a very handy reference. My GWF Fed is in 2101 and I find it very useful.

Also, you can by bundled game editions (usually in sets of two or three) that span the major story arcs. If you start a 2087 Fed, you could buy Invasion 2088-2090 as a three set package. It doesn't offer the deep discount that Storm the Ring does, but you will save a few bucks by buying the set all at once.

My opinion only:
I've been playing the game for about 10 years, off and on. I've found my favorite place to start is "the beginning." While both box sets are incredible, if you want to start at GWF's beginning, I'd suggest buying the Early Classics sets (2074,2079,2084,2086) and the Alternate Universe Early Classic set. In my opinion, it creates even more history, giving your fed a thick and rich, complete history. Like I said, that's my opinion though.
The key is your happiness, so whatever you'd like to do, just keep the dice rolling and fill us in on the details.

I say start at the beginning, and create a deep GWF history that u can be proud of down the line.

I Stormed the Ring..and the aCe...and bought all the CPC sets..pretty much at the same time..
Storm the Ring gives you all the cards and all the handbooks for each year. If you have the money to do it all at once, you will save a ton of money and you will have everything in the beginning.
There will still be cards/charts that you will have to purchase because you won't get everything with the Storm the Ring purchase..but you get most of them.
I say Storm the Ring and welcome to the boards.

Odds are once you start playing, you won't be stopping. Might as well get is all as cheaply as possible now. Storm the Ring and grabs the updated charts and the LOW Ringside Companion for a great start.

OK. I'm a little bit of a Filsinger Board vet. I was there at the beginning. Went to college, got drunk a lot, and lost the way. About 2 years ago started LOW. Lost interest a few months ago and went back to CoTG. I made a poll and it recommended New Beginnings 2119.
I had thought of Storm the Ring but was advised to do New Beginnings because if I started way back then it would be impossible to catch up to the current year.
When I started 2119 I had one PPV and two weekly shows, Monday Night Mayhem and Thursday Night Terror. I'm now into June 2119. Should I continue on this path or should I go back to the beginning and have less matches to speed up my years and eventually catch up.

You could always first get caught up to where you're at in 2119 and then, once you get to 2121 or 2122, go back and play the previous years. That way you are still current and you get to create a full history for your fed. I do think at some point you should buy and play the previous years because otherwise you are missing out on lots of awesome stuff. But you can still be current in COTG while you're doing that.

I am extremely happy with my Storm the Ring purchase because I have everything now..and can run things however I choose to. Should I decide to go back and run a fed by the books..I can do that. If I want to run my fed like I do with the best of the best..then I can do that. Probably the best idea I have heard proposed is playing less cards in the past years to get your baseline history built up..while still playing the current story arc. You should breeze through the past years and be caught up before too long. Just my thoughts on it.
