Beings that Weid Al reared his hairy head in the 80's songs thread and I've been listening to him again lately, I thought I'd put up a poll. I'm giving you a lot of choices in this and there's a lot missing (you're actually voting on my favorites here). The poll isn't as important as the discussion.

I laughed my ass off the first few times I saw the "Smells Like Nirvana" video. He has had some classics and I have been a fan for a long time, but that one is my favorite.

Here's an exerpt from wikipedia about "Smells Like Nirvana":
----> Kurt Cobain of Nirvana said that the band felt they had "made it" after Yankovic recorded "Smells Like Nirvana", a parody of the grunge band's smash hit, "Smells Like Teen Spirit".[6] On his Behind the Music special, Yankovic stated that when he called Cobain to ask if he could parody the song, Cobain gave him permission, then paused and asked, "Um...it's not gonna be about food, is it?" Yankovic responded with "No, it'll be about how no one can understand your lyrics".[14] According to members of Nirvana interviewed for Behind the Music, when they saw the video of the song, they laughed hysterically. Additionally, Cobain described Yankovic as "a musical genius."

As is Constipated/ Related/ Decapitated
I could go on and on with great Al songs.
What about GUMP?
I can't believe these four didn't make the list.

Had to leave the list at 20 and I picked my favorites which is partially influenced by the original songs he spoofed. Not a big "Lump" fan so didn't include it. Didn't really want the poll to be an entire discography.
Also, Bazzy is a nudnick.

Dare to Be Stupid because it's an original. As good as his parodies are, I think sometimes his originals are even better.
White and Nerdy would be a close second.

So many classics, I had to choose Amish Paradise, simply because it was hilarious and caused a lot of controversy, as well as,I prefer rap music as my chosen music genre.
Although the Money for Nothing Beverly Hillbillies video is classic, check out UHF. I still love that movie, there's some classic parts in it.

I would have gone this way had Al not managed to seamlessly work "ROTFLOL" into a rap song. This pushed W&N over the top for me. I saw him live this past summer. Awesome, awesome show. EDIT: Matt, I tend to prefer Christmas at Ground Zero, but yeah. Makes a nice compliment to Bob Rivers.

Eat It.
That's the song that launched him into stardom. The video was hilarious! Al in the red, multi- zipper, sequin jacket and brown body paint was awesome!

"My Bologna" is good for the nostalgia factor, especially if you know the story behind its recording. Not much to listen to from a production standpoint, but historically it's important.
