What is the best song by The Clash?
I left a space for other because I was limited in only putting 35 choices for this poll by this kick a*s legendary punk band.
Joe Strummer RIP.

I voted for Bankrobber. I usually play it whenever I win cash to pick up at one of the local sportsbooks.

I'll admit I don't know all the songs here, but Train in Vain is always a fun one. Plus it reminds me of a friend's awesome bachelor party a few years ago when that was pumping heavily out of the limo's sound system in downtown Baltimore. Ahhhhh, memories...

Rock the Casbah.
Very catchy.
London Calling a close 2nd, then Should I Stay probably 3rd.

Top 5:
1.) London Calling 2.) Clampdown 3.) White Man in Hammersmith Palais 4.) The Card Cheat 5.) Lost in the Supermarket
Forced to pick, I'd go with #1, but they're all in a bundle at the top.

What more punk rock ? I thought it was 2007 and not 1977 . Another tricky question and how many choices (thats 2 gig set lists , aint it ?) . Perosnally for me the Clash were better than the Sex Pistols . But in the end , didnt the Clash do EVERYTHING they were against . Playing is USA (with the Who) and signing to major labels etc . Anyway thats another debt (or in 1977 a fight ha ha) . For me its between White Riot / I Fought The Law \ English Civil War / London's Calling (Used today in nearly every sporting event promo , when one teamor more is travelling to London) & Should I stay Or Should I Go . Okay I would have to say Should I Stay .
(Ps) Is it "The Damned" next ? . What more punk rock ? It wasn't like that is my day ha ha .

Well, I'd do a Top 5 for the Jam but I fear that no one besides me would be able to name 5 Jam songs...Mr. Weller had considerably less success over here than he did there.
I agree with you on the Clash being better than the Sex Pistols while still being...well, I don't know if I like the term "sellouts," but they sure seemed desperate to release a BIG HIT SINGLE while leaving all the political stuff as album cuts. Granted, they may have seen that as a necessary evil to get their message across to begin with.
Should I Stay or Should I Go, as much as it rocks, is really a fragrantly inane song. Rock the Casbah is only marginally better in that regard, though Train in Vain is legitimately fantastic.

Might have to do a Dead Kennedys poll, unless someone else would rather...

London Calling.
Did anybody see at the 2003 Grammys when Springsteen, Steven Van Zandt, Dave Grohl, and Elvis Costello covered it as a tribute to the recently departed Strummer? IT WAS AWESOME!!!

Might have to do a Dead Kennedys poll That's a good idea Mark. I'll let you or someone else do it because there is one or two DK albums I don't know too well. Of course, I really like their cover of "Viva Las Vegas."

I'll admit I don't know half of the listed songs...but since London Calling is the only one on my MP3 player, it gets my vote.
