It's an interesting question. Hilary Clinton seems to have a very good shot at being the Democratic candidate this year. Will she get in? I don't know. I'd like to think that gender and race don't matter, but we all know they do. There are many, many people in this country who would not vote for a black person. Many wouldn't vote for a woman. Some wouldn't vote for either. And if a black woman runs? Forget about it.
That said, I think we will see a woman in the white house in the relatively near future. Hilary has a chance to do it in 08, so we may have our answer sooner than later.

There are a lot more women in this country...so I'll have to go there.

I'll say a woman will be first, with a caveat. That woman would have to be Hillary. I don't say that as a Hillary supporter, but rather with the view that she's the only woman I see out there right now with much of a chance of actually getting there. There are plenty of women governors like Christine Gregoire, Janet Napolitano, and Jennifer Granholm, but as far as women politicians who have national name recognition, I think your best bets aside from Hillary would be Nancy Pelosi (no chance of her ever being president) and possibly Barbara Boxer. Maybe I'm missing somebody, but that's all I can come up with, and they don't seem like presidential material to me. If Hillary is unsuccessful, give Obama another 4-8 years to get some experience, and I think he is very electable. All that said, I'm sticking with John Edwards for the time being. Mainly just to tick off MFT.
