My landlord for the new place that I am moving into this week says I have to order both power and gas. In the past, I've only had power. Are there any advantages to having gas as well?

The heat in most places is gasbut you live in Vegas so I don't know how much you'd need that. My guess is that the stove is gas. No gas, no Tombstone.

It's probably the stove (and possibly the hot water heater?) that's gas. I placed the order, but if it turns out it's only the heat that's gas then maybe I'll cancel that for now. A few weeks ago it was 119 down here so air conditioning is needed but heat isn't. I'm wondering if having gas lowers the power bill at all.

I have gas and electricity, gas is only used for the heat and the hot water heater. Wintertime, the gas bill is usually pretty high since that's when the gas company jacks up their rates but electricity is okay. Summertime, gas is very low and electricity is just a little higher. Of course, I live in a condo so keeping the place heated and cooled isn't that bad.
