Who will win the boxing match between Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr. that is set to take place this Saturday night in the MGM Grand Garden here in Las Vegas, NV?
The current line:
De La Hoya + 165 Mayweather Jr. - 185
Goes 12 full rounds -300 Doesn't go 12 full rounds +250

A couple of minutes ago. I just saw that on ESPN over 150,000 people had voted on this question and the results were 50% De La Hoya and 50% Mayweather Jr.
In this town (Las Vegas), this fight has been the focus of the local sports pages (of the LVRJ) and the local sports radio talk show. Even my 8th Graders are constantly talking about De La Hoya vs Mayweather Jr on Saturday night. I personally want De La Hoya to win, but I am thinking Mayweather Jr gets the decision.

De La Hoya by decision, though I'm hoping for a KO.
Take care,

I am a big De La Hoya fan but I gotta go with Michigan boy Mayweather.
I think Oscar is on the downside of his career and Mayweather is quicker. This is actually one of the only fights in a long time that I actually have interest in.

Just read the Sports Illustrated article on this for some more insight. I'll go with Mayweather, too, based on what little boxing I've kept up with in the past several years.

Hey Vegas, how much are tickets going for? Goodzilla, I'm sorry I didn't answer this earlier. I was actually out on The Strip yesterday from about 2:30 PM until around 6:00 AM this morning (I was on the Strip last night when the small plane crashed on Las Vegas Boulevard- but that happened south of the casino district) and I just woke up about an hour or so ago. I honestly don't know how much tickets for tonight's fight were going for. But I learned when I was on the Strip yesterday that the MGM Grand is also holding a closed circuit viewing of the fight and just to get into that (NOT the actual entry into the MGM Grand Garden to see the fight itself live) is about $50. Yesterday on The Strip there were lots of people wearing the T-Shirts for tonight's fight and those shirts were selling for $15. When I was in the sportsbook of ph (Planet Hollywood, it used to be the Aladdin casino) last night, it seemed like most of the action was going toward Mayweather Jr- but there were also people putting money on the fight going the distance. I heard lots of comments like "I don't care who wins, I just want the money." I wonder if Vince McMahon is in town for tonight's fight. Last year, I can't remember the fight, but he and Linda flew into Las Vegas on their jet just for the match and then took off again.

It's now over. At the end of a great fight that went the distance, Mayweather Jr won by split decision.

I was very bored by this fight.
Not a whole lot of action. Didn't live up to the hype, that's for sure.
I can't believe that a judge actually scored the fight for DeLaHoya! Whoever that judge was should have their judge's license revoked.
In no way did Oscar come close to being in control of this fight. Barely any of his punches did real damage. He mostly hit Mayweather's arms and side of the body. Floyd was never in any trouble in this fight.
I was hoping for some great boxing but didn't happen.

This was billed as the fight to save boxing...I hear it was good, but not good enough to get boxing off life support. UFC is officially surpassed boxing as the violence of choice in America.

ESPN today reported that the De La Hoya-Mayweather Jr. match from last Saturday tirned out to be the most lucrative boxing match ever. There were at least 2.15 mil;ion buys for last Saturday's fight which easily surpasses the previous record of 1.99 million buys from the 1997 match between Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson.

I cant see boxing coming back from the dead, especially with the turd it produced with that fight card. Boxing is very drawn out and boring, honestly compare it with say UFC which has plenty of guys who train in boxing and UFC wins hands down. I mean, look at it this way...take a ufc fight that has 2 strikers and 9 times out of 10 these guys are beating the heck out of the other. Now, see a boxing match - 2 "strikers" ( I know different rules, but give it a bare bones approach ) - these guys dance around for a frickin' hour with 3 body shots between them. Seems like a huge letdown for boxing as MMA has come back strong and Boxing purists knock UFC and pretend that Boxing is still the premier sport. Sorry for the rambling - I saw that Mayweather and De La Hoya fight was advertised for $54.95 on Direct TV... UFC is about $35.00 , which would you rather see???

Thanks Knapik. I just burns my butt when I see obvious stupidity when Bert Sugar and all his hangers on is telling everyone that boxing is by far the best sport ever ! He has no clue, the guy is stuck in the past.
