There is sooooooooooooooo much more than just cars going around in circles. There are pit strategies, crews working to improve the car all race long, and different driving styles that are more intriguing to me than anything any of the other sports has to offer. Thank you for pointing this out, as I neglected to. It is most definitely not just a bunch of guys driving around in an oval for 500 miles. There's so much more strategy than the casual observer realizes, and if you actually listen to the knowledgeable commentators (many of whom have done it themselves, either as a driver or a crew chief), you'll pick up on what's happening, and the suspense just builds. Maybe we need to make a new version of that old cliché: "It's a NASCAR thing. You wouldn't understand." Also, never go Go-karting with a racing fan if you aren't one. You're likely to get bump-drafted somethin' fierce.

The Cakejedi is a BIG NASCAR fan There is sooooooooooooooo much more than just cars going around in circles. In fact, if I could only watch one sport, it would be NASCAR. And yes, it is THE fastest growing sport. You think it's growing faster than mixed martial arts?

Nascar has better sponsorship abd the drivers make more money, but I would definately say that MMA is currently growing faster. Now, with unified rules and such, we'll probably see more mainstream coverage of MMA, which will lead to better sponsors, which will lead to more money..

The problem with the growth of MMA is not every state will sponsor events, so the potential to go to a live show is somewhat limited.
Now racing, that's done pretty much anywhere, whether NASCAR or something on a more minor league level. Plus the sponsors aren't as hinky about being associated with it compared to MMA.
But both are definitely on the "fast track." (Groan...)

Two or three years ago, the answer would be NASCAR...
Now, I'm not so sure... last year TV ratings actually dropped slightly, but most 'insiders' attribute that to being an expiring TV contract. It could be NASCAR is at a plateau.

Last lap of the race is cool, but I can't sit through a whole race. I can understand the attraction, but its not for me.
