This is a trick question. Oklahoma is a piss-ant state too poor for a pro-sports team...
honestly, I don't get the poll?

There's a very good chance the Seattle Supersonics will be moving to Oklahoma. The team was sold to a business group headed by an Oklahoma businessman, Oklahoma City has promises a new stadium if one is built there (though the Myriad works fine in the meantime.) The Hornets sold out every single game in OKC, and it was obvious the team was better with someone to cheer for them. I hope they do move because the Sonics are my favorite team, and I'm pretty close to Oklahoma

I hope they do move because the Sonics are my favorite team, and I'm pretty close to Oklahoma Although I now live in Nevada, I grew up in Seattle on Queen Anne Hill within walking distance of the Seattle Center and I have attended more Sonics games then I can count. I have been following the sale this summer of the Sonics to Oklahoma City businessmen Clay Bennett very closely and I am not at all convinved the Sonics will indeed move to Oklahoma next year. Bennett has said repeatedly he intends to keep the Sonics in Seattle provided that he can either get Key Arena refurbished or a new arena built in the Seattle area. He has given Seattle a deadline of JUly 2007 to come up with a plan for a new arena. But that deadline is really just meant to put pressure on Seattle because the Hornets are moving back to New Orleans next summer and the Sonics lease at Key Arena does not expire until 2010 and the city says there is no way they will accept a buy out of the lease before 2010. Bennet just flew back to Seattle for a few days earlier this week (I am currently in Seattle and do not return home to Las Vegas until Monday) where he presented a detailed plan that he personally has been working for a new arena in Seattle (not Oklahoma) and even stated he hopes to bring an NHL team to Seattle (again not to Oklahoma) to the new arena he envisions. The Seattle Times even recently published an article where Bennett returned to Oklahoma and told the fans there they were "the back-up plan" (I can probably track down the article and post a link for it). One concern I do have about the Sonics staying in Seattle is that both Seattle's mayor Greg Nickels and the Seattle City Council are acting like they don't care if the Sonics leave. However the Governor (Christine Gregoire) is working aggressively to try and keep the Sonics here as are the Seattle suburbs Bellevue and Renton. Bennett has already seen some potential stadium sites in Bellevue where a plan for a new stadium is supposed to be finalized before the end of 2006. If a stadium gets approved then I really don't think there is any way the Sonics move to Oklahoma. Otherwise Bennet would have to be either a) lying the whole time about his repeatedly and publicly stated preference for keeping the Sonics in Seattle or b) a very bad businessmen because Seattle is the 12th largest market in the country and I am not sure if Oklahoma is even in the top 40. I agree with Knapik that Oklahoma City is capable of supporting a pro team, but still Oklahoma City is NOT a better market than Seattle- especially if a new Seattle stadium is built. Plus, even if Bennet's secret plan is to move the Sonics regardless, he still has to get the move approved by the NBA and if Seattle can come up with a viable new stadium plan I think it is far from certain that the NBA would approve the Sonics moing from Seattle, where they have played for 40 years, to a place with a much less attractive and less lucrative market. Plus Seattle has had a history of rallying to keep their teams in town. When the Seattle Pilots moved and became the Milwaukee Brewers, Seattle sued Major League Baseball and won that lawsuit and we were then granted an expansion franchise in the Seattle Mariners. In 1989 when Jeff Smuylan, an Indianapolis businessmen bought the Mariners, there was the initial fear that the Mariners might be moving to Indianapolis- never happened. Also, in 1996, Ken Behring announced he was moving the Seahawks to Los Angeles and the Seahwaks even had some Spring workouts in the Los Angeles area. But the local grass roots movemewnt rallyed (there is now a similar organization already up and running called saveoursonics) and the Seahawks never did and never will play a game as the Los Angeles Seahawks as they are back in Seattle where they belong playing in Qwest Field. While I think Knapik is right that it is possible the Sonics might move to Oklahoma one day, there is enough reasons as I stated above for me to be optimistic that the move will not happen. Knapik, I don't mind you getting a local team- but I hope it is an expansion franchise if you do.

Well the reason I said they would probably move is because the city's lack of motivation to help the team stay. The Sonics in OKC would sell out every game and sell much more merchandise (I assume) than they do now. I'm going by what I've heard and read about the possible move from when it first was announced, so I obviously am not as informed as you. I do hope they move, though... sorry I wish I didn't look silly in my Rashard Lewis jersey, I'd wear it all the time

Where's the option for none? I hate the Sooners......bleh. And I know, they're not pros. Longhorns! Woooo! Texas! Yeeeeeha!
The Hornets? They are New Orleans own. In a few more months, they're days of playing in OKC will be a memory.

Not for nothing, but the Redhawks are a damn fine Triple A team and play in a wonderful ballpark.
