It's official, Joey is a Dolphin, and after 4 long years...who was the ultimate cause of the fall of Joey Harrington as a Lion?
Who's to blame? Is it Joey himself?
Millen for not surrounding him with enough talent?
Mariucci and his lame-a** playbook...
The fans for booing?
The Media for scrutinizing?
who?

I say Matt Millen. He has done a horrible job as GM. He took a team that had been in the playoffs regularly. The Lions went 9-7 the year before he got there.
He tried to bring in too many young guys too quickly. He left the team with no veteran leadership and the locker room became a mess because of it.
You have to do a gradual rebuilding. If you attempt a major one, you need a dominant head coach. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Marty Morningweg was not that guy.
Joey had no chance to succeed in Detroit. He didn't play all that well but I think his struggles early on were due to his inexperienced/sucky teammates and I think Mariucci never really backing him hurt his mental psyche.

Millen. Everything is Millen's fault. The Lions poor play, high gas prices, the war in Iraq. That thing on Aaron Neville's face. All the fault of the meat-head GM. I'm just thankful there wasn't a first round caliber reciever in this year's draft or you know who the Lions would've picked. Seriously, that's Millen's idea of surrounding his QB with talent; draft a bunch of wide recievers for him to throw to. Really, surround a young QB with young players and give him no veteran voice to learn from and see what happens. A novice GM in Madden franchise mode could make better decisions than this guy.
I had really high hopes when the Lions drafted Joey. He seemed like a good guy and he was outstranding in college. Almost a sure thing. Well, it could've been worse. I'm not sure how, but it could've been.
And I've now spent my 700th post on the NFL team I've been fruitlessly following for 17 years now. Why Barry, why?!?

Well, to be fair, Millen did trade a 4th round pick to get Ty Detmer, who at age 70 was a bargain! ;D
I think Joey's college play was just a little overrated. QB's are always a gamble. The Colts didn't decide until the day before the draft to take Manning over Ryan Leaf!
Ben Roethlisberger played in the Mid-American Conference and he won a SuperBowl.
Andre Ware threw for like, a billion yds. at Houston and was a horrible NFL player. You just never know.

Heat + Fuel + Oxygen = Fire.
Millen + Marriucci + Harrington = Disaster.

Some players completely fall apart when they get to the big time, and other "college nobodys" become superstars.

Well, I'd say a combination of factors but in the end it was Millen for not giuving Detroit enough talent for anyone to do anything.

Joey. That team was awful due to Millen, but he should still take the lion's share of the responsibility for his play.

Dre' Bly, for not volunteering himself to become a reciever after finding out that Harrington prefers to throw to defensive backs.
