I never got into KISS until they did "MTV Unplugged" in 1995. That blew me away. Unfortunately, I didn't like the studio versions of the songs as much as the acoustic versions, but a few of their tunes are still great. Besides "Unplugged", I can't say that I have a favorite album, as I don't know which songs came off which album.
I love going to concerts and always wanted to see KISS live, as it was a "must see" for every rock n' roll fan. I finally got the opportunity in 2003 when I saw KISS, along with Aerosmith, Ted Nugent, and Saliva at Comerica Park in Detroit. Front row of the lower deck on the 3rd base line. It was cool because I got asked to go that day as a last minute replacement for a guy who had to bow out. The ticket was free so I got to blow all of my money on beer ;D.
As for KISS, the stage show was everything I expected; very cool, but Paul Stanley brought the fun level down as he talked for about 3 minutes in between every song. The crowd was booing him at one point because he wouldn't shut up. Aerosmith played after them and blew them away, and their set was only about half as long. So all in all, I'm not that big of a fan, but I respect what they've done.

aerosmith are cool but they have totally changed who they are. guess just to sell records...that's cool but ...well...they're not for me!!i know a lot of die hard Aerosmith fans that are really disappointed in them. Ive seen KISS about 12 times...thats about every show they have done here. ( in my state that is, not the entire country!!) Paul Stanley does like the sound of his own voice...i do agree. Most the unplugged stuff was off the early albums..

I kinda liked a greatest hits one Smashes, Thrashes and Hits with a good mix of their music.
But also love the Alive albums! I was lucky to see them live in Lexington, great stuff.

I saw Kiss in Madison Square in 99 and thought they were really good. However, the best part of that evening was seeing a drunken idiot hit from the level above, full force, with a cup of beer as the lights went down! I saw the beer coming and then everything went dark and the guy yelled real loud....ha ha, it was great! My thought on Aerosmith is this: They've been around a long time, everyone respects them and they've paid their dues. If they've changed or "sold out" - good for them... they've gotten to a level where they can reap the rewards of years of hard work.

Gosh, put Aerosmith from 20+ years ago and today...and it's enough to make you puke. I simply flip the channel when they come on.
I think I'd boo Starchild to if he was rambling. I like Kiss, but really, they're a joke, but they sometimes take themselves tooooo seriously

I'm a huge KISS fan. I saw them for the first time in St. Louis in 1992 (The "Revenge" tour). The second time I saw them, I was completely blown away. It was July 2, 1996, the "reunion." It was unbelievable. I've seen them many times since then, but that 1996 show was "it." It was the original four, they all seemed to be happy and enjoying the show. Ace Frehley is my favorite. He's a rock star, in the truest sense. What a memory.
I'll give it to you, though, in the recent years, Paul Stanley talks way too much during the shows. But if you got a chance to see them in 1996 reunion, you would have seen one of the best shows live that you could ever imagine. And I've seen a lot . . . Metallica, Aerosmith, Ozzy, G-N-R, Van Halen.

I completely agree with this. I lost most of my respect for them at the Super Bowl in 2001 when they shared the stage with Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears. Total crap. But they're still good in concert though. josharpie99, Van Halen (w/Hagar) is on my Top 5 concerts ever. It was 70 bucks (most I ever paid to see a show) but man was it worth it! Ozzy was great too.

I've loved Kiss since '87. Their "Reason to Live" video was so cool back them withe the hot chick and setting that mustang on fire. Ive seent them 2x once in '97 and then 2003. My wife and I left midway through the Aerosmith set in 2003. They were a disappointment. I even have a program from when Paul Stanley did The Phantom of the Opera. Lots of merch.

I can't say I'm a KISS fan, but I had all the original action figures (from the late seventies), and I got to meet Ace Freely a few years ago down in Florida. Somewhere in my stash is a copy of whichever album has "I Wanna Rock 'n' Roll All Night" signed by Freely himself (and Joe Satriani, who also happened to be at the Disney Orlando Resort).

My friends and I did a Kiss tribute concertsome years back, and I dressed up as Gene Simmons (that's the absolute last time I will Ever wear lipstick!). It was a lot of fun, ad we got a huge response from the audience.
I chose Alive II as my favorite because it has the live versions of some of my favorite songs, including God of Thunder.
I also love Aerosmith. They're not at the top of my list of favorites, but they're pretty close.
Take care,
Jay

The question should be, "has anyone painted their face up as KISS before?" I'm a guilty party i have to sat ive done it a few times! Me and 3 of my mates got dressed up, we called a taxi to take us to the show...you should have seen the drivers face when we approached the taxi!!! I thought he was going to take off!! Lets just say he seemed a little uncomfortable! and remember, here in Australia we sit in the front seat!!

You know soug, when you told that story, it reminded me of something.
I don't know if you get Seinfeld in Australia, but there was an episode where they went to a New Jersey Devils hockey game. Elaine's boyfriend, Puddy, was a face painter. They won the game and he was all pumped up.
He ran up to a car and started yelling, "We're the Devils....yahhhhhh..", with his tounge sticking out. One of the people in the car was, I think, this old Italian monk/priest. It scared the guy to death because he thought it was the devil! He ended up in the hospital....
Fun episode

Fave album hands down is Rock and ROll Over...raw energy and sound...dressed up as Gene twice...Halloween '94 and for the Reunion tour show, did the fake blood spitting...didnt go for the fire...I know I wouldve blown myself up *chuckle*
