Was thinking about this last night when putting together an order that included Chaos and Alpha Force SE cards from 2108. Was a big surprise to see those guys pair up at the time, but was it more shocking than Thantos and Star Warrior reforming the Gamemasters or Bloodline and Encubus forming Divided We Fall this past year?

I'd go with Star Warrior/Thantos....after all those editions of the two former partners clawing at each other as the Hero and Villain leaders.....when they actually paired up, it was a shock to me.
I think because that pairing struck me so much, when Alpha Force and Chaos did it later, and then Encubus/Bloodline.....the shock value of bitter rivals teaming up was lessened for me.

Yeah, for me, with Star Warrior and Thantos it was one of those "wtf!" type moments. I remember getting that edition in the mail and being STUNNED. The thought that those two could reconcile seemed crazy to my young mind!

Since it was the first swerve ever, I'd go with Pit Viper and Splatter actually. But since it's not an option, SW & Thantos.

Of those choices, SW and Thantos. AF and Chaos was more a team of necessity. Bloodline and Encubus were partners before so a reconciliation wasn't a big surprise.

As expected Star Warrior and Thantos are blowing away the competition.

Star Warrior and Thantos, they had a ton of heat back in the day.

Star Warrior and Thantos.
That was a historic moment for COTG! The 2 biggest rivals in the fed joining forces. How can you not pick that?

Star Warrior and Thantos by far
Nobody saw it coming
Then again who thought Chaos would turn face and team with Alpha Force

Well that was starting to become apparent as Chaos was running out of teammates fast.

I do believe the very first sentence in the Pit Vyper writeup that edition was, "Mr. Controversy." It was a great swerve, and a fun tag-team at the time.

i remember looking at the Snelly drawing on the booklet and not really knowing what to think. I knew Snelly liked to draw COTG stuff just for fun and thought he did that picture for the heck of it...
Than i read the booklet and was stunned...no way was a ready for Thantos and Star Warrior to team up...no way.

It was suprising, but Star Warrior and Thantos had been a team before. I would say Chaos and Alpha Force. There's even a mistake in that book. When Chaos is asked about being on the same team as Matador again he mentions one reconciliation is enough for one year. Refering to Alpha. But he and Alpha had always been enemies! When it was written later that they were back in Demension X as a team it didn't seem right . I couldn't see them as a long term team.

for me it was Alpha Force and Choas because they hated each other. Thantos and Warrior already teamed so it wasnt as big a shock. Thantos and Warrior did do better as a tag than Force and Choas.
