I went with Su. IMO, the Wolf SE art he did is by far my favorite of all time. As I believe Payback? mention, Mandrill, Mensar and others were also fantastic, so 100% agreed with that.
I like Banks stuff too, he's been doing an amazing job on all the sets thus far and I'm blown away by the art I've seen so far in the aCe 2121. I can't wait to see all of them when they come out.
Werner is my man in the bootleg world. He can draw ANYTHING and make it look good!!! It was a real tough choice as the majority listed were good and all had their own unique style to offer the COTG Universe!
Also, I'll throw in a plug for Kevin Knipe as he's one of the best artists I've seen in a long time too. His colored NAWC cards are the bomb! and the Limited Edition cards that he's done over the years for Tom are some of my favorites as well. Maybe one day, he'll get more opportunities to do more with Tom's stuff!

I was never a fan of Snelly. I always thought his art resembled glorified sketches. Although he did have a few great pics.
Carter is one of my favorites. Someone mentioned his art dropped off after the 2088 edition, but I'd have to disagree. The art he did for the 2090 set was some of his best. Just look at that updated Spike pic, it blows away that goofy looking one he did for the 2088 set.
Bendis is another guy I'm unsure of. He did do some great art including the Vengeance pic and the Enigma pic, but some of his art looked as though he half *ssed it.
Su did some amazing art and he really brought that comic book style to the game. Twin Blood is still my fav GWF team, and thats thanks in large part to the art he did for them.
Banks has been awesome recently, but I think he dropped the ball with the Monolith pic. it's missing something. And that tron helment is a total turn off.
All in all, it's impossble for me to chose since all the COTG artists have brought something different to the table.

I like the Snelly era, but I can't get beyond Larry Snelly's absolute lack of knowledge of human musculature. Shoulder/chest connection problems, biceps and triceps that didn't contract with the position of the arm correctly, and problems like that just detract from the overall look of his work. Some of his designs were spectacular, although he did tend to gravitate toward studded leather and shoulder pads a little too much.
DMK's right about some of Carter's work after 2088. I like the original Spike better personally, but the update was very good, too. When he started turning in things like Sectarian and Tendron, drawings that ruined any potential the characters may have had (Sectarian not much, but Tendron could've been a sleeper hit without the goofy drawing), it was time for a change. Actually most of his last few sets are full of characters who look blocky, short, and stocky in contrast to the lean muscular physiques he was drawing in the first few editions. His inking style also took a nosedive from intricate cross-hatching and fine detail to a very thick, flat line work. Doomsayer's entire team could've been one of the scariest groups of ruthless killers ever, but the drawings made them look like cosmic clowns instead.
Brian Bendis DID start half-***ing it after a while, when he went from starving artist to critically acclaimed comic book writer on the rise. I think this probably went from being an important source of additional income to a sort of after-thought as he started to get noticed in the comics industry. Now he's so big at Marvel that it would've been cool if Tom had let him WRITE an edition or two ala Osk's aCe sets. I'd be real interested in knowing what kind of ideas Bendis would've had as a writer for COTG.

for me it was Snelly....hands down !!! his is the only "era" where every character looked different. alot of the other artists characters....well...they looked "related". sometimes, just too similar.

Soug that is interesting do you have any examples? I know back in the day some people thought Valour and Godsend looked the same but besides then this is the first I've heard anyone say about this kind of thing.

Not to take anything away from any of the others because they are all very good (Can't wait to see Banks Warfare), except Gustovich who sucked out loud and Bendis was a JACK@'$$ that had no idea about the human body and just SHADED EVERYTHING. I HATE THAT SOB!*note* I think Shu made a lot of guys look alike, or even gave 'em an oreintal look (I think it was the eyes he drew)

I'm not 100% certain, but I think it was Maxine Babe.....Bendis' drawing was way lousy. Shady for the sake of shady -- yeah, something like that.
