When I first started playing the game (back in the beginning...long ago) I did use the basic. Now i strictly use the advanced.

I use all of the advanced rules pretty much to the letter. I just use them for the mechanic, though - I still use the move printed on the chart, because I think that helps to retain the flavor of the individual wrestlers. I do play the basic game with the kids. I actually play my own mutant super basic game where ropes and turnbuckle become move - 2, ring and deathjump become move - 3, and we use finisher ratings with the basic pin scores. It makes everything as easy as possible for them.

Advanced, for everything. I was so tempted to drop the (ag) and (pw) rules a while back, but I have decided to still play using these rules.

I have always used the advanced rules. It takes a whole lot away from the game not to use them. I just change it up. For example, if a wrestler is succesful on the choice chart, sometimes I just say he hits the - 3 move that comes before it,.. works for me. That's what I have always done. I have the chart rolls memorized after all these years, but I still can't remember what the actual moves on the choice chart are.

I believe that if you are playing in an official tournament at G con or whatever you gotta use all the official advanced rules. Bringing house rules to places like G con or playing against other people definitely is not cool. As far as playing by your self or in your fed I don't have a problem with people using all the house rules they want.

There is nothing worse than sitting down to play a tournament match and having someone explain a bunch of rules he uses in his fed and then ask you if you mind using them.

When I first started playing I used a weird combination of the basic and advanced rules. (Added the Finisher RATING to the BASIC PIN rating even after a successful kickout, making matches incredibly short) It actually came from an error in how I read the instruction booklet the first time around. Then one day I sat down and reread it and realized my mistake. Since then, about Winter of 1998..I've played with the advanced rules.

I agree with RUSH. last year I won a tournament with PANTHER WARRIOR, and in my third match, caught the guy I was playing against cheating...
He would call out the - 3 move instead of using the ch x move...
of course, he used the ch x chart for the - 2 move...
but I called him on it, won, and went on to win the whole thing.
It felt good.
That's how it needs to be.

I played the basic version, once, when I first got the game and it was just too easy for most wrestlers to lose. The advanced really isnt all that advanced, is it?

I use the (ch x) depending upon the situation. If a wrestler is moving along dominating his opponent I usually don't use the chart..but if the same wrestler is having trouble advancing the match I always go for the charts..it usually seems to give the match the kick-start it needs to get going instead of leaving it bouncing back and forth between hold-reversal-reversal-reversal...

Thats what I do too Eliath. Isn't that how it's supposed to be?
The problem is, I have never actually played the game with anyone else (except my brothers who play the same way I do) so I have no idea if I'm interpreting the rules the right way.

I use the ch options if I choose to use that move, I do slack sometimes and use Basic game rules for like Star System cards (house shows) to keep it moving and sometimes like if I just don't have any care for the participants I will use em. I am just a slacker I guess :-)
