If I have never played COTG (I've been playing LOW for a few years now), is the New Beginning the way to go, or is it worth it to make the big $250 purchase? Thanks in advance for any help.

Most of the people who post on this board are current with the 2121 set, or are somewhat close, so if you want to be involved in the discussions or at least know who we're talking about, go with New Beginnings. Most of the 2119 people are still around in 2121.
That said, there's nothing like a good Brute and Massacre/Greek Gods match from 2087. But there's always time for that.
Yes, Champions of the Galaxy is worth $250. At least. As you know from playing Legends, no game of this type is going to give this much creative opportunity, and I'd argue that the possibilities are greater with COTG than with Legends. But we've all got budgets to make and bills to pay, so start with New Beginnings and join the club! We'd love to have you!

2119...like Mark said.
While everyone here can talk about the old feuds, New Beginnings is where it is at. And once you start playing and get going you can always go back and play 2087.

This is probably true. NB and the 20 & 21 that followed are awesome, however, missing out on all the killer storylines and characters that come before this is a real shame.

I don't know that you can go wrong either way. I guess my analogy would be the WWF. You could start watching today, get into today's characters and storylines, and truly enjoy the prduct.
But what if you used the DVD and 24/7 library and started watching the WWF in 1988 or so? Would Mr. Perfect, Rude, Bundy, Demolition, Hart Foundation, Bulldogs, etc. be the worst place to start your experience?
I guess what I'm saying is that with CotG, you aren't going to go wrong, just watch the wallet, and you will be thoroughly satisfied with whatever you choose.

Buy them set by set from the beginning . Okay I know it may cost you more than $250 in one go . Doing it my way , if you dont like it then you have only spent money for 1 or 2 sets .

I went with New Beginning and it is definately worth it.
If nobody minds I have a quick question to ask. I only have New Beginning but I'm interested in looking into past stories and characters from the CotG universe. Would the GWF Files available in the store be a good purchase or is the information on Wikipedia enough?

You can't beat the deal with the Storm the Ring offer for getting all of the sets. But if you are cautious, get New Begginings and maybe 2120 and 2121 as well. Then if you really like it you can fill in the early sets after that (or get the storm the ring and give 2119-2121 to someone else to get them hooked ). To Jamie, the GWF Files and the GWF Files 2 is going to give you alot more detail on the individual characters than Wikipedia. At least that true as of the last time I saw some of the Wikipedia pages.

The 2nd GWF files is an amazingly well put-together book, I would definitely recommend it for excellent catch-up reading. The book stops around 2115, so there is a slight gap, but it's an imperfect world. For the $$, you can't beat the Files version 2.0.

Then is the 2nd GWF Files just an update of the 1st?

Then is the 2nd GWF Files just an update of the 1st? Yes. My name is actually mentioned in the 2nd one in the bootlegs section. Ahhh..my name in print..ha. Pick up the GWF files, they go into much greater detail and have small bios for every wrestler ever introduced in a set or S.E. It's worth the cash and is a good read for when you have some down time and are bored.

Thanks for the info. I just have one more question. Do the fan-created cards like Kati, Sabre, Comedy, Tragedy, etc. come with bios describing their characters and movesets, or do you just get the card on its own?
