Need help with aCe

Okay, when the GWF went to Centra, I wasn't all that thrilled with the set. It seemed like really no one would want to see wrestling in this Dimension and since nobody heard of these guys, why would there be a TV show, and why would there be Big Events. So honestly I quit the game. Now my problem with aCe is that People are dying, theres a war going on and it seems that aCe is just too serious. I LOVE the stories, and no offense to the writers, but I cant seem to wrap my brain around the concept that the matches mean life or death for those involved, and why there would be fans and a television show and Big events. I dont want to quit the game, because I see potential, I just want someone to throw me some ideas so I can really play this set to the best of my ability.

Interestingly, lordofthisworld and I were having a PM discussion, and out of context we were discussing aCe. I found this bit of what he said as something that might help out, halistanar...

What I also like about aCe is that improves upon the idea that the GWF was founded on: that wrestling can be used as substitute for war. It is important in these cultures. It is completely real and populated by a truly unusual breed of people. It is not so much a sport anymore as it is a ritualized tool embedded in the culture.
