Since I couldn't go to G-Con this year and there were others in the same predicament, I ran a little tournament for anyone who shared my plight in our board community. Everyone seemed to have a good time playing, and I certainly had a good time organizing it, so I thought I'd try it again.
We're halfway to a new aCe set, so it seemed like a good time to run a tourney with the aCe guys. In order to participate you must have access to the full roster of aCe 2120 according to the booklet. Special Editions are optional, but encouraged. Here are the rules:
Signups
To sign up, just post in this thread that you'd like to participate and what wrestler you'd like to use. Wrestlers are dished out on a first-come, first-served basis, so jump on early. I'll leave signups open until Monday morning or when the full roster is taken. Every so often I'll update the list of available wrestlers in this post to show who's available.
If Monday comes and the faction rosters aren't quite balanced, I might ask people to shuffle choices around a little, but hopefully that won't be necessary.
Tournament Format
It'll be a round-robin tournament of sorts, in that every wrestler will face every other wrestler that is not in their faction once. As part of this, each wrestler will participate in one tag team match and one special match. Named tag teams will automatically be matched together, and the other tag teams will be determined randomly in Lethal Lottery style. Wins will be worth 3 points, DQ wins worth 2, draws worth 1, and wins in the tag team and special matches will be worth 5 points.
I might have to tweak the format slightly depending on logistics and how many people we have sign up, but hopefully that won't be an issue, either.
Tournament Rules
We'll use standard COTG rules, except that DQs will get rolled twice (it is the aCe, after all). One other rule is that you're allowed only two outside interferences per card, plus one for Trisis and the additional one if you're using SE Murdok (and shame on you if you aren't!).
The Matches
After the signups are complete, I'll compose a card of matches for each participant to run and post the list. You run the card, post your results to the results thread I'll put up, and then we'll calculate the points. We'll then have a winning faction as well as an individual champion, so even if your first choice for an individual is taken, you'll still have a chance to be on the winning team. Hopefully we can get the entire 2120 roster spoken for – that would be awesome!
