Damn... there's always gotta be SOMETHIN' that slips by.
There's been a legitamite question or two posed regarding the character HUSTLER's finisher 'PISTOL WHIP' from the aCe 2120 set.
The question of course being: "What happens when Hustler is NOT DQ'd for using his weapon?"
Originally, I would've said to roll again on LEVEL 3 OFFENSE for HUSTLER.
But, on second thought, how about if the OPPONENT RECOVERS WHILE THE REF IS RESTRAINING HUSTLER AND HITS HUSTLER WITH A CHEAP SHOT. OPPONENT ROLLS ON LEVEL 3 OFFENSE?
This is actually pretty exciting guys. There's a chance here for you to have the say in how this ruling goes. Let me hear what you think and I'll ask Tom to make it an 'official ammendment' to the cards ruling.
I personally would vote for the opponent recovering...makes for a potentially more exciting finish IMO.
~ :-Xsk
ps- I'd rather voting and discussion go down here in the aCe thread than the Polls thread.

I also would say that the opponent takes over on level 3 offense....

But after being Pistol whipped could u recover quickly, maybe U should roll on who takes over on Level 3 offense......If chair shots and ring post can put you out, a pistol beating most definitly could......

Real simple . . . .
Roll one die - Even roll means Hustler shoves the ref aside and continues to dominate the opponent. Odd roll means the opponent cheap shots Hustler while he's jawing with the ref.

Hmm...I'm not in favor of the opponent recovering. I haven't playtested the rule yet, but Hustler already doesn't have a finisher, which my instincts tell me will hurt him severely. Now we're also proposing that he either gets DQ'd OR his opponent goes all the way to Level 3 Offense every time he uses the move. In that case, Aegis may as well dump him from the team and try to bring in someone from Dimension K who could be more effective...Pollux, SD Jones, and Reynard B. Guile all come to mind.
At the very least, if the opponent makes a comeback, he should go to Level 1 Offense. No amount of referee bluster should be enough for an opponent to recover from a pistol-whipping and go all the way to Level 3 Offense. But ideally, I think Hustler has to stay on L3O himself. Not being able to get a pin with the move is punishment enough. Or, you could have the opponent roll on Level 3 Defense, which gives him at least a shot to get a pin.

No amount of referee bluster should be enough for an opponent to recover from a pistol-whipping and go all the way to Level 3 Offense. I guess what I imagine is that HUSTLER doesn't even CONNECT with the PISTOL WHIPPING when you roll a 4,5, or 6. The ref intervenes first, then either DQ's him cuz Hustler goes on with the whipping or ............ ~ :-Xsk

What if he dropped the gun while arguing with the ref and his opponent picks it up and returns the favor?

i think, or this is how I am going to do it, you roll the wrestler's die and the one with the highest roll takes over on level 3 offense...
Hustler gets the highest number so roll again on "LEVEL 3 OFFENSE for HUSTLER".
The opponent gets the higher roll so the "OPPONENT RECOVERS WHILE THE REF IS RESTRAINING HUSTLER AND HITS HUSTLER WITH A CHEAP SHOT. OPPONENT ROLLS ON LEVEL 3 OFFENSE"

I'd have to say, "mix it up a little". Maybe once, have the opponent recover and deliver a cheap shot. Then maybe in another match, have Hustler take over on Level 3 Offense. We all know that matches never usually go the same way twice. Otherwise, it would be too predictable and boring. Use our creativity and just go with the flow of the characters. Ask yourself "What would Hustler's opponent do, are they a cheap shot artist? Or are they strong enough to come back from Hustler's finisher?" Just my opinion, and that would be probably what I'll do when I receive my card.

I just had Hustler in a Torture Chamber match last night and, on the fly, decided that I'd just do a 1/2 = +1, 3/4 = +2, and 5/6 = +3 type thing. I couldn't justify the finisher being more than +3, yet there was no referee to stop anything. Think I'll stick with that until there's an official ruling.
Of course, Hustler lost to Cremator in that match. He's got a measly one victory in several matches thus far.

Hustler can really hurt an opponent but he has a heck of a time BEATING an opponent.

I think the rolling one die works the best, and makes more sense. If it's even or odd. or the 1,2,3, Hustler takes over on Lvl 3 off. and 4, 5, 6 opponent takes over lvl. 3 off. Or something like that would work the best IMO
