Some of you may know that as of Dec. 4, 2006, I'll have been playing Champions of the Galaxy for 20 years. With only a one-month break way back around '90 or so, I've had a continuous GWF fed since then, something I'm pretty proud of. There are a lot of memories in that two decade span, and it occurred to me that it's the perfect time to share some of them. So, in place of the usual Zone of Lawlessness over on my podcast site ( lawless.libsyn.com, cheap plug!), coming next Monday, I'll do an audio essay about my two decades in the game and all the twists and turns it's taken me on. I hope you'll be there to tune in, and to check out the CPC's top-rated news show while you're there!

It'll be another 7 months or so before I hit the double-decade mark. Kind of surreal that we've been playing a fastasy dice wrestling game for well over the majority of our lives. Looking forward to the podcast.

My 20th anniversary will be some time in December as well, although I'm not sure of the date. I've taken a few "breaks" from playing over the years, but have really gotten back into things thanks to Legends.
It always amazes me when I think of how a dice rollin' wrestling game provided me with so many friends and interesting experiences over the years.
I'll look forward to that podcast.

Congrats Mark!
20 years and still going strong!
I just passed 19 myself earlier this month, so i have a a wait to get to 20. It says so much about COTG that we are still playing after all this time...even if it is Legends, like Tim! ;D
Hopefully I'll be able to get the pod cast...still not having fun with the i-net connectivity here in the "dorm" that i am staying in...
BTW...Dec 4 i hit my 17th anniversary of joining the Air Force...trust me that is a date i will never forget!

Congrats Mark. I've only been playing about half that long I believe. June 2008 will be 10 for me. When ever CPC 2105 came out it was right around there when I started. I, too, have met a lot of people and collected a lot of stuff, and it's all been great. Congrats to Tim too and all.

In July this year I reached 15 years, and had officially had been playing for over half my time on this planet. My two regrets were that I took so long to finally order the game in the first place (was going to get it 4 years earlier and kept puttuing it off), and I waited too long to start going to Galacticon. But glad I finally got around to both, as I have met some great people and had some great fun over the years and there is no end in sight.

I put it off for years too, Todd. I kept seeing the ads, but was being blinded by the IWA play-by-mail, thinking it was the greatest thing, only to finally realize that I wasn't getting anything out of it and they were just after my money. So back in '98 I decided to finally order and see what it was about. Upon first getting it I almost quit. I wasn't comprehending it, then read through the walk thru instructions I believe used Wolf and someone else at the time then DING, the light bulb clicked on and I haven't stopped since. Sometimes play was sporadic or I took long breaks, but I've never actually quit playing. Funny story is I'd seen it for years, then when wrestling was really popular with Stone Cold, nWo and DX, a buddy showed me an old PWI with New Order...I ordered from there, thinking I was gonna get New Order, but I failed to realize that it was an old ad, and when I got like the first 5 sets, I was bummed not to find them, only to realize the error.

Wow it has been 20 years hasn't it. It's just amazing when you put it in perspective and think about what else in your life that has occupied your thoughts and time that you feel passionate about. Nothing out there in my lifetime has probably even occupied half the time CotG has. I mean twenty years, I don't even have friends for that long. All the fads and passing fancies that I've been "into" and I still have CotG. The classics never get old they just become refined.

I started playing before Mark, but he stole my dice a few years ago so he'd hit 20 years of continuous playing first! All kidding aside, it's very cool that you've been able to keep going for 20 years with no breaks. It's hard sometimes to balance "real life" and COTG/LOW, and you've done a great job! Like Tim mentioned, the friends and memories from the game are amazing, and that's the real benefit to me. I do miss playing the game, but keeping in touch with people and hearing what's going on in their feds helps fill the gap. My son just woke up, so it's back to "real life" for me.....
