The complete line-up has been set for the UFC's June 28th Ultimate Fight Night special, which will air from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM as the lead-in to the premiere of Blade: The Series on Spike TV.
In addition to the fights that have been listed for several weeks in MMAWeekly's Rumors section, one new bout has been added, as Ultimate Fighter 3 contestant Kristian Rothaermel will take on TUF 2 contestant Rob MacDonald.
Along with Noah Inhofer and Tait Fletcher, Rothaermel was excluded from TUF 3's finale event, which will take place on June 24th. Unlike Inhofer and Fletcher, Rothaermel still has an upcoming fight in the UFC.
Inhofer, Fletcher, and Rothaermel all turned down opportunities to continue fighting on TUF 3. The difference between Rothaermel and the others is that Rothaermel had physical reasons for not wanting to fight again on TUF 3. Rothaermel had a huge cut on the top of his head, whereas Inhofer left the show to see his girlfriend and Fletcher turned down a chance to return because he didn't feel mentally up for it.
Rothaermel lost to Michael Bisping by KO on The Ultimate Fighter 3. His opponent, Rob MacDonald, lost to Brad Imes by submission on The Ultimate Fighter 2, and later lost to Jason Lambert by submission on the UFC 58 card this past March.
The main card bouts on Ultimate Fight Night 5 will be Anderson Silva vs. Chris Leben, Stephan Bonnar vs. Rashad Evans, and Luke Cummo vs. Jonathan Goulet. Beyond those three fights, the two fights that would likely be given the highest priority for airing on the two-hour broadcast are Josh Koscheck vs. Dave Menne, and Mark Hominick vs. Jorge Gurgel.
The fights that are extremely unlikely to air on the two-hour broadcast on June 28th, but could still air on future installments of UFC Unleashed, are Jon Fitch vs. Thiago Alves, Jason Lambert vs. Branden Lee Hinkle, Justin Levens vs. Jorge Santiago, and Kristian Rothaermel vs. Rob MacDonald.
To recap, here is the complete line-up for the June 28th Ultimate Fight Night event in Las Vegas:
-Anderson Silva vs. Chris Leben
-Stephan Bonnar vs. Rashad Evans
-Luke Cummo vs. Jonathan Goulet
-Josh Koscheck vs. Dave Menne
-Jorge Gurgel vs. Mark Hominick
-Jon Fitch vs. Thiago Alves
-Jason Lambert vs. Branden Lee Hinkle
-Justin Levens vs. Jorge Santiago
-Kristian Rothaermel vs. Rob MacDonald
LWPD (the first three fights are a lock to air...anything else is a question of time permitting)

Som really cool fights. Leben/Silva is very interesting and I think will show us where Leben is at. I hope Bonnar beats Evans unless Rashad can show us something special... dont really care for either guy. Cummo has a test a head of him, but I'll be pulling for him. Gurgel will guillotine Hominick.

I like Bonnar alot and I am pretty sure that he will beat Evans clean. That is unless Evans has been working his butt off training for this fight which, who knows, may be the case. Leben was a complete jerk on TUF season 1 but has since proven himself to me. He is a great fighter and seems to have gotten his head in check. I don't know a thing about Anderson Silva though so I wouldn't even venture a guess at a winner.

Ultimate Fight Night Five Preview
By B. Theriault
If this show is anything like what we saw from Saturday night's Ultimate Fighter finale then we should be in for a treat. Joe Silva has put together an excellent card and a main event that has diehard UFC fans salivating. This is by far the most stacked Fight Night card ever assembled.
Anderson Silva -200
Vs.
Chris Leben +180
Silva has been on a tear around the world as he has only lost one fight since June of 2003. Silva brings a great stand up game to the Octagon and a penchant for finishing fights standing. Look for him to bring the fight to Leben unlike any other fighter ever has.
Leben is almost to the mountain top as a win here will get him a title shot at UFC champion Rich Franklin in October. Leben has been one of the UFC's hottest fighters as he has defeated five straight opponents since the first season of the Ultimate Fighter ended.
Insiders Edge Pick: I love Lebens chin and the heart he shows but he is outclassed here. Leben is the type of guy you like to see do well but if Jeremy Horn and Lee Murray couldn't dispose of Anderson Silva then I have a hard time believing Leben has what it takes. I look for Silva to win this fight by decision.
Stephan Bonnar -175
Vs.
Rashad Evans +155
Bonnar's performance at Ultimate Fight Night 4 in April left a bad taste in many fan's mouths and he hopes to change things here. Bonnar fought hard against Keith Jardine but received a decision victory that has been under question since the second it was announced. Bonnar could not finish Jardine which makes many wonder about what kind of punching power he really has.
Evans has not tasted defeat yet in the world of Mixed Martial Arts which includes two split decision victories in UFC competition. Evans has a strong wrestling background but is not afraid to mix it up on the feet. Look for him to go for the takedown but exchange on his way in
Insiders Edge Pick: The popular pick amongst the public right now is Evans but I just can't see it happening. Evans has not finished his last four fights and I think to beat Bonnar he is going to have to. Bonnar has the advantage in both stand up and submissions and I think it will be too much for Evans to over come.
Mark Hominick -125
Vs.
Jorge Gurgel +115
Hominick won the upset of the year when he defeated 7 to 1 favorite Yves Edwards at Canada vs. The United States in March. Hominick then went back to his home country and lost by submission in the TKO promotion. Hominick has excellent stand up and he will try to utilize it in this matchup.
Gurgel is a top notch grappler and he will try and get this fight to the ground as soon as possible. Gurgel is the BJJ coach of UFC champion Rich Franklin as well as one of his best friends. Gurgel is famous for fighting on the Ultimate Fighter season two with a torn ACL among other injuries.
Insiders Edge Pick: I love Gurgel here for a few reasons. He will be the bigger fighter here unlike when he was fighting heavier guys at 170 lbs. on the UF, Hominick is susceptible to chokes which Gurgel specializes in, and Hominick has been given way to much credit for his win over Yves Edwards. Look for Gurgel to get the submission by guillotine choke as that is how he has ended his last four fights.
Jonathan Goulet -180
Vs.
Luke Cummo +160
Goulet is a UFC veteran as he faced Duane Ludwig in April and was knocked out in eleven seconds for his troubles. Goulet likes to finish his fights both standing and on the floor as his skills are well rounded. Goulet would like to leave a better impression with UFC fan's after this show.
Cummo is one of the crowd favorites in the UFC and shocked everyone when he lost by the narrowest of margins to Joe Stevenson at the Ultimate Fighter 2 finals. Cummo fights out of Matt Serra Jiu-Jitsu in New York but should be feared more for his stand up than anything.
Insiders Edge Pick: Cummo. I think Goulet is a tough guy and had some bad luck against Ludwig but this is another bad matchup for him. Cummo is one of the toughest guys in the UFC and I think he will win a close decision.
Undercard
Josh Koscheck -400
Vs.
Dave Menne +360
Insiders Edge Pick: Although I would really like to see Menne come back and get the win, I am going to have to take Koscheck by decision. Koscheck is vulnerable when he is standing up and if Menne can stay upright he's got a shot but that is highly unlikely.
Jason Lambert -200
Vs
Brandon Lee Hinkle +180
Insiders Edge Pick: Lambert has been on a roll and I have no reason to believe that it will end here. Hinkle is dropping down in weight for this fight and may be a different fighter at this weight class but that remains to be seen. I like Lambert on a small play here.
Jon Fitch -200
Vs
Thiago Alves +180
Insiders Edge Pick: This is the hardest fight of the night for me to pick and definitely one that I am going to stay away from. I am going to take Fitch here for his overall toughness as their skills are basically a wash in this fight. Look for this to be a fight of the night contender.
Parlay: Silva to Gurgel to Lambert- Parlay pays just under 4-1
Lock of The Night: Gurgel. He is a very strong underdog play.
Sit back and relax for this one because it is going to be a fantastic show. Good luck to all off you and Happy Betting!

Well it was a great show. Can't say I was happy with most outcomes, but it was a damn good show. Hell I might payed for this had it been longer.

It was a solid show. I was surprised to see Rashad shut down Bonnar so easily. It'll be a real challenge learning to deal with his style....and it's sometimes a challenge to watch it.
LWPD (points should have been deducted from Hominick 'running away' from Gurgel...a tough loss for Jorge who was aggressive the whole fight...but couldn't find a way to take it to the ground)

I was shocked by Evans, he totally shut down Bonnar, Gurgel was in it to fight and Hominick ran......how does he get a win while running is beyond me!! Silva crushed Leben, wow that was a surprise to me, Leben was really on a roll. great card

Honestly I didn't enjoy this event anywhere near as much as I enjoyed the season finale from just days earlier. I was pleasently surprised by Evans but completely disapointed with Bonnar. I would have hoped if he was going to lose that it would be a good fight at least. Jorge Gurgel looked good but he really didn't seem to do a ton of damage but neither did Hominick. Gurgel was much more aggresive so I would have given him the fight. Still expected more out of Franklin's best buddy. Leben got dropped in another dissapointing fight. The positive is that I can look forward to some great fights out of Anderson Silva in the near future. Leben is still young too so I am hoping that in a few years we will see a rematch that is a much better fight.

Rashad looked pretty good- Getting seven good slams/ takedowns was very impressive. Bonnar seemed to not have an answer for Rashad. Rashad, however, needs to work on submissions; he will be quickly passed by if he cannot become proficient in them. Both he and Bonnar are very tough guys.
Very impressive debut of Anderson Silva. Chris Leben is a tough kid, but he was way out of his league. Reminiscent of the Tank/ Beflort clash of old.
Hominick appeared to toy with Gurgel the entire match. I was sort of surprised that Hominick won, only beacise the past judging has been highly slanted towards the established UFC guys when the decision is not totally lopsided.
I will agree on one thing with Joe Rogan: the person who scored the Evans/ Bonnar fight and the Goulet/Cuomo fight even does indeed need to be shot.
And what the hell is wrong with Cuomo??!?! He makes some of the worst decisions I have ever seen a fighter make. Where the hell is his corner?? He was dominated on the ground in round 1, tossed around and basically mauled. Round 2 starts off and Cuomo lands a few good shots, and then goes back to grappling?!?!? There were several instances that he could have stood up in the early part of round two, even after Goulet recovered from his shots. I would have tried to stand the last two rounds.

Rashad on the ground reminds me of Dan Severn...not a good thing.
LWPD (Rashad 'The Decision' Evans...not a good selling point but it seems to work)

Alright I think everyone is to hard keyed to Pride rules. I'm still annoyed (boxing wise) when De lahoya lost to trinidad because Del costed in later rounds (backing up). The ufc doesn't have the same rules as pride and goes on 10 point must. I like that. It's something different. I also think alot of you were just star struck that Gurgel could hang.
As for the Dan S. Remark I'm going to say something damn smug. I like Rashad.. He's living proof that if you have to pick just one style you can still sqeeze out wins with wrestling more than anything else. Oh sure one day it just won't happen for him, but he bullied the better fighter with a one dimnensional fighting style.
Yes in an even competition the more well rounds fighter pulls ahead.. but at that level (B? C?) wrestling seems to be the cure all. Maybe it's just the fact my dad use to wrestle back in the day, and I'm bios but hay that's part of being a fan.
And I'll admit, I know the "Pillow Style" is dull but if Randy would done that to Chuck I would forgave him in a second. Let the spirit of Arona guide you (LOL).

I think the problem with Rashad is that he fights to the level of his opponent. I think his problem is going to be losses to sub-par talent where he looks awful and then a few months later looking amazing against a quality opponent. It was a theme with him in TUF.
I like the UFC scoring system better. People like to romantize the Pride judges but they produce just as many awful decisions. And there's more favoritism in their system.

Anderson Silva looked real impressive, it'll be interesting to see if they give him one more fight with maybe a Loiseau or a Marquardt before the superfight with Franklin. I think they will at least give Franklin one warm up fight back from his injury.
The only problem will be if one of the two get upset in that time. Especially if Silva happened to fight Loiseau and lost after the way Loiseau was dominated by Franklin. I honestly can't wait for a possible Franklin-Silva fight though.
