Was I the only one who thought Pe de Pano was going to crush Mir? Mir's abilities are getting a quick submission due to his his superior submission grappling skills. He doesn't have the striking and he doesn't have the endurance. The problem was... Pe de Pano is one of the greatest grapplers of this generation. There was no way Mir could handle him on the ground IMO. So what was Mir going to do? He wasn't going to get a quick sub... perhaps late in the match, but his endurance is so poor there's no way that would happen.

It may not sound like it,but I like Mir just fine. He had balls to come back and take on Cruz in his first match. Bravo to Cruz in his second MMA match totaling controlling the former heavyweight champion!

Justin Eilers, despite his losing, is a good fighter. Keep him around, I say. He looks good on his feet and trains with quality guys. Just don't put him up against Arlovski again any time soon... yeowch.

Tim Sylvia is back and deserves to be where he is. Great KO over Telligman... could make for a solid match against Arlovski, but how can you pick against Andrei right now?

BRING BACK VLADIMIR MATYUSHENKO! The guys record is AWESOME and he is an extremely good wrestler and EXTREMELY tough!

Any besides me here note the marked improvement in Paul Buenetello at UFC 57? He looked crisp and technically solid. Big props to Paul for taking the loss to Arlovski and bettering himself. He'll be back.

Andrei Arlovski is a terrific champion and a damn sexy one at that (huh?) Dude demolishes people. The division really isn't looking so bad now! Bring in one or two solid guys and we're in business. Fuck the haters, Dana White is kicking ass.

I listened to an interview with Buentello. He was really humble in it, and commented on how he was not really ready for a championship fight and really should have not taken the fight with Arolvski, but when an opportunity presents itself, ya roll with it. He commented that he was just there to have fun and throw hands. He did state he needs to work on his ground game. I liked his candidness, and I am now a fan.

I think Tim Sylvia is decent, but I do not think he has what it takes right now to beat Arlovski. Andrei is rolling through what Dana is putting in front of him, and I just do not think Tim has the tools to beat him.

Unfortunately I have not seen much of Arlovski to comment on him other than him being on a roll, and he can stand with people and throw some good shots. Time will tell how he fares. I do not think Dana will let him go when his contract expires: he is young, talented, intimidating, and barring an injury, going to be around for a long time.

Do not forget Jeff Monson. His win over Hinkle was pretty impressive. An Abu Dhabi championship is awesome and a big feat, I just do not know anything about his stand up or his gas tank. A few more fights to prove himself and he may be up for a shot at the title.

Despite what many ITGs may say, UFC showed some good promise with it's heavys on the last card. Pe de Pano and Monson, were great additions.

Now if they will just pick up Herring....

Yeah Monson annihilated Hinkle, who is a decent fighter. Monson is also the scariest looking fighter in the UFC haha. And yeah Buentello is a solid dude. Herring would be a great addition... I dunno, isn't he with K-1 now? I could be wrong I havent heard anything on him in a while.
