I heard at sherdogs main page Shogun is moving up to fight coleman?
I'm wondering if this is true. While I'm certain Shogun posses the skills to defeat coleman standing.. I have a hard time seeing him getting away from Coleman on the gaurd.. his stock could really crash tight here. Should be fun to watch!

Rua is 6'1 and naturally walks around at 200lbs. Coleman is the same height but walks around at anywhere between 240-260. You can speculate as to 'why' that disparity exists. There are ways for Shogun to put on the extra muscle mass to make weight. I remember back when a young Vitor Belfort mysteriously put on an extra 25 lbs of muscle in the UFC only to turn in a lethargic loss to Randy Couture and then just as mysteriously 'shrink back' down to his original size a mere few weeks later. How a similar technique would effect Shogun's stamina and fighting style remains to be seen.
Unless this is a 'one off' fight outside his weight class, I don't see how going down this path would be good for Shogun's career. MC may be past his prime but he's still a lethal wrestler who could potentially Ground and Pound his way to a boring decision victory. Even if Rua does win here, further victories over the naturally larger upper echelon in the Heavyweight division (Nog, Crocop and Fedor) just doesn't seem very likely.
Like Watching Paint Dry (who suspects Chute Box is just trying to find a way to protect their cash cow in Silva while trying to find 'something to do' for the obvious number 1 contender who's in the same training camp)

I feel it will be a good idea to let Shogun be a heavyweight. There isn't much for Shogun to accomplish in the 205 division except to be a wall (like Ninja) to champion Wanderlai. Jumping in weight class will give him something to accomplish. Since Shogun is taller than Ninja, he could pack on some extra pounds and not look overweight. I remember Ninja looking out-of-shape when he tried to be a heavyweight against Sergei in 2004.
As far as the fight goes, I think if Coleman takes down Shogun and doesn't show any agression for 30 seconds to a minute is when the ref will call for a standup. It may not even be in the 1st round, but rounds after that is when they won' t allow it to stand on the ground with Shogun on his back too long.

Somebody needs to mention the Maurice Smith vs. Mark Coleman fight. Maurice is 6'2 220. Rua can put ten pounds on if he wants to and still have a better then adverage chance of stopping Coleman.
Either way it makes a good fight and props to Pride's matchmaking department ;D

Mark Coleman is a bit wiser sence the M Smith mishap. Smith had mental coaxed Mark into fatiguing himself and losing. I beleive he said something to the affect "wrestlers punch like girls" or something like that.. and Mark ended up guessing in Smith's gaurd fighting with his heart and not his head. You know the irony is.. A failure here by Shogun really makes Smith's win look that much more crafty.

I just watched a interview with him on Sherdog. He mentioned that he naturally walks around at 220 lbs and is having more difficulty cutting down to 205 lbs. Im not sure how much Coleman is weighing these days but being 220lbs naturally in my mind improves his chances in the HW division.

And lets not hear anything about flukes. I didn't make up exscuses when Randy slipped. The Brothers need to keep their buts away from heavy weight (ninja and shogun).
