Below is a list of fighters that the Japanese media reports DSE/PRIDE will choose from if they decide to produce the 2006 Heavyweight GP later this year. There will definitely be a GP this year, but DSE/PRIDE has not yet decided if it will be for heavyweights only or an open weight GP.
Possible fighters for the Heavyweight GP: Fedor Emelianenko Rodrigo 'Minotauro' Nogueira Mark Hunt Mirko 'Cro Cop' Filipovic Sergei Kharitonov Fabricio Werdum Alexander Emelianenko Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua Pedro Rizzo Josh Barnett Hidehiko Yoshida Naoya Ogawa Kazuyuki Fujita 'Zuluzinho' Kevin Randleman James Thompson 'Tank' Abbott

My dream 2006 turny 16 man by bracket
Zuluhino vs. Tank Abbot (circus time! CAN battle supreme! I think Zuluhino can take Tank!)
Sergei Kharitonov vs. Ron Waterman (Ron can fill in the blank. Unless Frank Mir or another UFC hevyweight thinks about coming over.... Gan Mcgee?)
James Thompson vs. Cro Cop (Mirco needs a warm up. Quick and bloody the repo man goes down)
Mauricio Rua vs. Alexander Emelianenko (Hell yes... this would be a grand encounter to say the least! Next too big nog vs Rua!)
Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Kazuyuki Fujita (send him to the wolves)
Kevin Randleman vs. Hidehiko Yoshida (Can Yoshida takeout the dark horse?)
Noaya Ogawa vs Pedro Rizzo (LoL this would never happen but its funny! Ogawa would do the hard gay hustle the fooook out of the ring before fighting Rizzo!)
Fabricio Werdum vs Josh Barnett (grudge match)
no fedor or hunt in the first round as the are fighting each other.

.... Tank? Honest to God there putting Tank in this thing? (goes into a Coma).
I don't mind at the ppv... hell even in a match.. but not in the tourney! I like the heavy weight grand prix. i saw the 2004 one.. and it was...amazing. The best tourney ever (for me). I'm kinda hopping Fedor doesn't go in.. I mean what does he have to prove? He's the man, let someone else shine for a day.

Can Sho-gun take two GP titles? Will Nog prove he is #2? Will Ogawa be chicken again? Sergei's time to shine? Cro Cop's last stop?

I'm kinda hopping Fedor doesn't go in.. I mean what does he have to prove? He's the man, let someone else shine for a day. Fedor has mentioned in interviews that he may not compete in the 2006 Heavyweight GP. He stated that he bow out so that he would allow his brother, Alexander, get an opportunity at a title. He might also take a lengthy period of time off to let his reoccuring hand injury (which started at the Koshaka rematch) heal.
