King of the Cage

Now in the past to friends, and online peops I swore back and forth I would never give King of the cage
(to qoute Y2j) ever.. everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr another chance again. Back in the day I saw one show, and hell it sucked hard a$$. But you know I thought, "hell UFC and Pride have gotten better.. and look its down to 10 bucks... and look it has a few names on it that sound familiar...hmmmm" I broke down and bought it,

How can you argue with that?
Paul Buentello was on the card and actaully had a good fight with fellow UFC fighter MIke Kyle.

Now Duce is it just me or Mike Kyle kind of a choke artist, he seems to throw away alot fights?(Lord Knows he did not once but twice on this tape).

I saw a fighter named Danil Bobish, pretty impressive, he dusted kyle as did Buentello.

I saw a fight with Ricco Rodriguiz against some no name he handeled pretty well (God I found his style so damn borring) he won easly as did Dan servern. THis tape has a copy right 2005 but it looks kinda old, and Dan's really show it in his walk.

Now I've seen my second fight with Quinton Jackson.. and he LOST AGAIN! AGAINST
Marvin Eastmen's cr@ppy a$$. MArvins was that guy who got owned by VItor Belfort and later put another poor second match in UFC... Man Jackson is horrible. If he beat Chuck the more I see is fluke of a life time.
Yves Edwards is on the card and picks up a win by a submission (Shame two that fight looked like it could been a good stand up battle... but with out dana white to push Anyone around into that sorta scenerio it never happened, being as how the UFC encourages there fighters for delevering on that sort of thing)
Vernon white actaully scored a win on this fight.. in fact everyone from the Lions den did... (which only means if the lions den did this well King of the cage fighters must really blow).

Final reveiw? It was worth 10 bucks just by the volume. The interveiws were okay and it was kinda cool seeing Don the dragon wilson doing interveiws.
This show gets a c+.

That MArvin Eastman vs JAckson match was KOTC 4 and it was QJ's 2nd match and it happened in Jun of 2000
Poor Dan Bobish is a KOTC heavyweight champ but when he went up to Pride he lost all three of his matches against Goodridge, Vochanchyn, & Hunt. He was in UFC 14 and is 1-1 with a loss to Mark Kerr. He beat Kyle in KOTC 13.

Sounds like you got a best of DVD.

Kyle's never won by a choke I think he uses it as a panic button to get the KO

I really like KOTC. The DVD quality is better than UFC (no waiting 10 minutes, once you put the DVD in, to do anything, and the matches don't have any long into's).

I picked up the set to see Jackson, and yeah I wasn't too impressed. Eastman is pretty good on it though.

I also have KOTC Underground which has early matches for Forrest Griffin and Diego Sanchez. It has has 2 of Severn's matches, but they are really slow and boring (was he out of focus in that environment?).

Overall I'm impressed with them. I haven't seen any PRIDE matches yet (the DVD's here are around $30 so I'll wait until they go down) but I prefer KOTC to UFC mostly because of shorter intros and no long start at the beginning of a DVD.

Oh definatly the new tape was great the price i found it so shop around. It was nice to see something a little different and sorry (To ace) the other day for rubbing you the wrong way about Japan. I like the place, I was just trying to say(and I'll stop before it becomes P!ss contest because that doesn't really help anyone) every place has its problems and some of those issues are still brought up today.

Oh and call me a corn ball and all but I like the dramatic intro to the UFC and the theme music. I haven't bleed out all of the prowrestling fan in me yet so maybe that's all it is.

Well I can understand your view, Magog about liking intros, and I'll admit they do build up major matches. The problem is when they are much...much longer than the matches themselves.

You get a 20 minute promo for each fighter, then get get to the ring and the intro's begin.

"Ladies and gentlemen, here is our next fight. This is a middleweight challenge. It is brought to you by the Ultimate Fighting Championship and sponsered by Budwiser, Girls Gone Wild, and War of the Worlds. Your ring announcer is ____ ______. Your three judges are ___ ___, ___ ___, and ____ ___. Your time keeper for this bout is ____ ___. And the person sitting in row 18, seat 103 is ___ ___.

And now our combatants: Fighting out of the blue corner, wearing the black shorts with manly pink trim, he stands 6'1", weighs 195 and 1/2 pounds. He has fought 34 fights, os 20-14, and has won 18 by knock out. He is a Taurus, and his favorite color is blue. Ladies and gentlemen..... _____ _____!

And his opponent, fighting out of the red corner, wearing the blue shorts with polka dot trim, he stands 5'11" and weighs 193 and 1/2 pounds. His record of 28 fights is 27-1 with 27 knockouts. He is trained in Ju-Jiutsu, and he likes long walks on the beach at night. Ladies and gentlemen....____ ____!"

Then the bell rings and one guy slaughters the other in 2 minutes!

Okay I probably got a little carried away (maybe more than a little), and some of that is more boxing than UFC. But at times, that's how the matches seem...lots of talk for a few minutes of action (and for once, I'll refrain from an Edge/Lita joke here).

Anyways if you haven't checked out KOTC, I highly reccommend it. Once again, 10 hours of fighting for $10-$15 and you can't go wrong!

Dan Severn's matches are boring! Its hard to find recent ones that are interesting. All earlier UFC matches are good. Especially with Tank Abbot's commentary....

If it wasn't for the fact that KOTC DVD's are so cheap, then I wouldn't check them out if they had the price of a PRIDE or UFC DVD. At least, they have Quinton Jackson and Ultimate Fighter Season 1 guys before they were famous.

See that's what I'm talking about, Tank an asshole.. there's no denying it.. but thats what MMA needs is some one like that doing color commentary! Heh just imaigne the heart attack Dana white would have with Tank bringing up Frank Triggs shady past times while a match is going on.

LoL, Tank would probally get jumped alot! Frank Trigg versus Tank..... Maybe thats why Pride has him now. They could use a more sober version on Fox and probally score some really good ratings
