Mario Sperry weighs at 210. He could go down to 205, and fight there. However, it might be too hard for him to drop down to 185.
I would put Carlos Newton in Sperry's place. He may not be a favorite to win, but he will give an exciting performance (which is OK by my book).

I need to demonstrate my MMA ignorance one more time by asking what's the big deal about Carlos Newton. Everytime I see him fight.. or see a high light from damn near anyone there kicking his a$$. MAtt Hughs beat him, Sakuraba beat him, every clip i've seen him in Pride he's loossing. Did he have some fantastic past way back in the day I don't know about?

Newton's record isn't that great, but he is an exciting fighter to watch. He usually gives a performance that makes a fan say "That Newton fight was great, I am glad that I spent my money on this show". I bought the PRIDE 3 DVD just for the Sakuraba/Newton masterpiece in grappling and submission attempts. I sure as hell didn't buy it for the Daiju Takase/Emmual Yarborough fight, although Bas Rutten's commentary during the fight was hilarious.
Newton has beaten some quality fighters in Pele, Paulson, Renzo and Miletich. I would love to see rematches with Henderson and Sakuraba. PRIDE has hired much worse fighters for tournaments such as Sentoryu and Giant Silva.

See that was my piont about Renato Verissimo. I thought he put on a good display with with Hughs and holds a win over Newton (not that I think beating Newton means anything). I think in a rematch against Hughes he could beat him. I'm not ruiting for him mind you, I just think he could. He came this close to tapping Hughes out in there first bout, and Hughes escaped do to his strength.. and further more I felt lost it in the decision (I was happy to see he retained by there was enough to make an argument for the other guy).

What truely cemented his stigma besides his great preformances and good foriegn relations with the Japanese( he is going to college there) is UFC 31 where he beat Pat Miletich. He was the first person to beat Pat on a UFC fight card. I'll second on Bas's commentary. There was alot of jeering coming from the broadcast booth during those early Prides. Lately his last victory was against Renzo Gracie who has a big showdown with the "pound for pound king" BJ PENN coming up. Then against Pete Sprat in UFC 40. Then Jose Landi-Jons.
