I think Tom told me once that he had designed a similar simulation game for boxing. Hey Tom, how about putting one out . I would love to get one and design some of the boxing legends.

I remember the main issue with that is how repeititve the card would be. MMA would be interesting though.

MMA has a game called Strike or Submit. It's a pretty good dice based game.

I tried working on a boxing game using guys from the Rocky movies, but I've been stuck lately. I tried to keep it simple while allowing for the various styles and options (Rocky coming back from a beating, Clubber hitting hard but tiring easily, Creed and Dixon being extremely fast, Drago being powerful, etc.).
Take care,
Jay

Tom mentioned to me that he tried this, but it was kind of boring an repetitive. I do agree that an MMA game is a good thing. Thanks for the link to Strike or Submit Havoc.

I keep trying to download it, but it won't let me read it. What program do you need to read it?
Thanks and take care,

I have Adobe Reader, but it says it's a PDF file, unless there's a different version that I didn't see.
I'm now very curious about the game.
Take care,
Jay

Okay got it. I just needed an unzip file.
Interesting, though with the various dice and charts, it'll take some getting used to.
Thanks and take care,
Jay

It's excellent and does not take long to pick up. Print them on Card Stock if you got it. The cards are full page and this will give you the full back for wins and losses.

Well I finally downloaded the game to check it out. The only problem is whenever I try to dl the boxers, my wp program crashes. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there an adobe version of the boxers? I tried to email the person on the site, but it's telling me the address doesn't exist. That's why I'm posting here.
Take care,
Jay

With the success of POW (cotg/mma) what do you guys think of a K1 type game? A fed of strike-only fights. Kickboxers, Boxers, etc. I think the inclusion of kicks and elbows will help the "repetive" move set of boxing. IMO this could be pretty easy to come up with. If anyone is interested let me know.

Yeah, the repetitive moveset is tiresome. They should incorporate like bodyslams, suplexes, clotheslines and stuff. Oh....wait... ;D Sorry I had to, it was too easy.

Anyone remember how boring Billy Jo Boxer's card was?
Can you imagine a whole promotion of Billy Jo Boxers with a few extra kicks added in? Just throwing the thought out there.

Billy Jo Boxer, in hindsight, was an immensely boring wrestler yes.....although overall nowhere near as boring as Trainer Jim. Edit: And I can tell how much the COTG mythology means to me, because I actually feel bad saying that.

It would seem boring at first thought. I have played a lot of dice and chart boxing games and they can be fun. If the game is made right by taking all aspects of striking into account, it could be pretty diverse. Ring movement, fighting off the ropes, etc. If you dont like stuff like K1 or boxing though I doubt you would like it.,
