Just had a quick questions about win-loss records. Do most people keep them and if so, do you use them for scheduling contenders for your titles or use them for other purposes? Thanks.

What I was planning on doing is ranking wrestlers similar to how Hockey does it with a point system
2 pts. for a win 1pt. for a DQ WIN 1 pt. for a double DQ, countout, or no contest.
And at the end of the year take the top 16 guys, seed them and throw them into a tournament of some sort.

I keep W-L records, but don't use then as a stict measure for contenders..
there are alot of threads on this, btw, you may want to do a search for "rankings" or something.. you see alot of stuff there

I keep w/l records as well but only use them to rank tournaments and stuff. The actual rankings dont reflect w/l records as much because sometimes someone can be unbeaten but only fought the bottom end of the competition and someone could have only a few wins but have fought against the best.

I keep them just because I'm a stat junkie. They don't effect my rankings at all. The only thing they really effect is my Most Improved wrestler for my year end awards, because if no one really improves by winning titles I check their winning % vs. the previous year.

I have NEVER used them. The feuds determine a lot plus I know who's hot and who's not so I'll give title shots to who is doing well most times.

I've only used them when Tom has a promoter determined story line, or for round robin tournaments.

I keep them, but as a kind of acheivement/career sucess thing. After a wrestler retires or leaves , he/she gets a bio in my own personal GWF Files. It includes physical statistics, debut/retire dates, w/l record, titles held, as well as other awards - such as Royal Rumble winners and King of the Ring winners. Stuff like that. But you have to have held at least one title to get in my GWF Files.

I don't really keep won-loss records at all. Wrestling is not like baseball where you are trying to clinch a division or a wild card spot. Plus they can be misleading. For example a wrestler could be 3-0 by defeating Pletahdor or someone could be 0-4 but they might have only wrestled Monolith, Disaster, and Endgame.

I keep won/loss records, but they don't have much impact on my booking. I go more by who beat who, who's feuding, etc. I keep the records to get a view at long-term trends mostly; plus it helps me keep track of how many matches everyone has been in so I don't under-utilize anyone.

I keep win/loss records but they don't really affect my booking all that much. Nobody is keeping a strict eye on the win loss record in my game to determine if a certain wrestler is worthy to hang out in thier stable or not, it really doesn't effect anybody much. Well except Death Knight but that's only because he has yet to actually win a match, though in his defence two of his opponents were Star Warrior [who is struggling a bit himself] and Lord Nexus [one of my top contenders.]

When I start a Hall Of Fame, I was going to color the character's "prime" card, blow it up, frame it, then attach a little write up and hang it on the wall of my "Man Room" (which I don't have yet but someday...big screen TV, kegerator, pool table, dice rolling area, etc.). I keep won-loss records, but my rankings are based on a points system, with the won-loss record being used to break ties.

Get your man room ASAP!!! Actually, we have a nice size basement, with our kids playstuff on one side and our TV, computer on the other side. In the back is the laundry room and there is a big space beside it. I've kinda claimed it as "my man room".... Meaning that I have my COTG stuff, action figures, etc there. Plus, my drawing table, which I share with my four year old who loves to draw with me. I guess I'll get to keep it until he gets to be a teen, and then we'll probably convert it to a bedroom for him, since he'll be too cool to stay on the main floor with us. The little gal, on the other hand, will always be on the 1st floor...gotta keep an eye on my baby!!! Getting back to Win-Losses...I keep track, but don't use it in the scheme of things of determining title contenders. I like to use whatever matchup looks interesting. But it's neat to keep track of. Stephen, I see what you are saying about someone may have 4 wins against Plethador and 4 losses against Bloodline.... Maybe use Rahl's ratings to help separate those kinds of quality wins.....

How exactly does the point system work opposed to Wins losses?

How exactly does the point system work opposed to Wins losses? In my fed, a game year is divided into 6 "sections". Each section is 2 months of game time (6 X 2 = 12 months for a game year). At the end of every section, points are added up to form the top contenders lists. My system... REGULAR MATCHES Win by pin or submission: 5 points Win by DQ or Countout: 2 points Win by forfeit: 0 points ANY Loss: 0 points Draw: 3 points to each wrestler/team Double DQ: 0 points No Contest: 0 points Double Countout: 0 points TITLE SITUATIONS Win the Heavyweight/Tag Team Title: 10 points Beating the champion by pin/submission in a non-title match: 7 points Beating the champion by DQ/Countout in a title/non-title match: 4 points Defending the title successfully by pin/submission: 7 points Defending the title successfully by DQ/Countout: 4 points There are other point values for special matches and battle royals too. If there would be a tie in the point rankings, the best won-loss record would win and get the higher ranking. This is very easy to keep track of and provides enough variance to seperate the men from the boys in the fed. If you'd like to see more of the house rules I use, PM me.
