Hey Tom,
Seeing the Greatest/Worst Manager Polls sparked a couple of questions for me...
I was wondering when you introduced the first wave of managers in 2089, why did you decide to have some of them double as wrestlers? I can understand if you'd want to have one of them wrestle maybe once a year in a gimmick match or something, but it still seemed odd to me. I thought this kind of overcrowded the GWF with wrestlers at the time.
That brings me to another question. What point in the game's history did you feel that the fed was getting too big for it's own good? The CPC split? Just before New Beginning? Just curious.

The only time I ever used managers as wrestlers, were when it made some sense (Guardsman for instance), or I desperately needed extra bodies for something.
I did use Guile with Hunter as a team in 2089, but that ended up being more or less just a way to make Bounty Hunter look extremely dangerous, since he did all the work for the team.

I only used them in tournaments to fill spots so that the brackets were even.

I actually had a lot of fun using some of the mamagers in matches, most notably Cordanus. He was Galaxian Champion at one time, and often a Tag Champion with Mensar.
Trainer Jim once beat Thantos in my fed w/ help from Billy Jo Boxer...
Guile was always fun to use...especially as the Gamekeepers with Bounty Hunter.
I really wish the managers like The Dark Menace, and Vin Strutter had wrestling stats...
the Legends guys do, and who doesn't love putting Jim Cornette in the ring even if he just gets his ass kicked? That's the point!

I love using the wrestling managers in gimmick matches, either against each other or against a full time wrestler. It is a shame that the managers currently don't have that option (but it wouldn't be that difficult to come up with stats for them) and if we do get a wrestling card then we don't get the unique interference chart (which I am also for) so it's a tossup for me.

I also had fun using them. Plus it was a good way to have jobbers for Mutant and Pulsar to beat up.

i actually enjoyed using the managers as wrestlers. at one point i had made a Managers championship belt just for the likes of bodyguards and managers who probalbly couldn't beat their way out of the paper bag. it was fun having that division.

If you hadnt noticed I actually LOVE Cordanus can wrestle. I love the Mensar & Cordanus tag team but had to break it up in order to push Mensar toward the top (though if you know about my latest results Cordanus helped Mensar to win the Galaxian title in my GWF fed). I wish I had got Tyranny, I was going to do an angle where Cordanus goes off to train, comes back and someone breaks his nose. He then would wrestle as Tyranny in the singles division.

First, I gave managers wrestling stats because that was common in wrestling at the time. It gave players an option to put say Trainer Jim in the ring or not to. I believe choices are better where possible. I must have thought the GWF was getting too big just prioir to the first Sudden Death because Sudden Death gave us a way to trim the fed that was interesting and exciting. Hope that helps! Thanks.

I really liked sticking mangers into elimination tag matches, or royal rumbles. and I have had the occasional match where the winner gets a cage match vs the loser smanager!

Whenever I did this (before my Early Classics restart, natch), where a guy had to defeat his hated rival to get a shot at the manager, the rival ALWAYS won to save the manager. Grunge beating Wolf in a steel cage (for the I-P title, no less) to prevent his manager, Reynard B. Guile, from having to step into the cage against Wolf stands out in my mind, but I ran the angle several times, and no one ever got to take on the manager. Huh.

some managers could really hold their own in the ring.Darkos did well in my fed. but the upset was always on the cards when a manager wrestled.

And in Legends it's always fun to have Sherri kick the heck outta Heenan or Cornette. And I personaly have Virgil as a regular competitor in my league. I just think he has a good card for useing on the low mid card.

I've also actually used Paul Ellering the same way-as a lower card wrestler rather than a manager- because I currently have the Road Warriors as heels who are managed instead by Killer Kowalski (the LE Kowalski card).

I've thought about useing Ellering but havn't gotten around to it. Just so many cards to use. In fact in the process of building storylines I trashed my whole League (in story) and rebuilt with only 24 guys or so starting. Now that it's getting back to "normal" I still havn't even reinstated the tag devision.
