The Promoter is nothing special...Not like it used to be...
The only promoter that really means anything anymore is the one(s) with the big teasers for the up-coming sets...
other than that, and the rankings, there isn't much that could be put in the promoter that hasn't already been said by Tom, or posted by other promoters here on the internet.
Why would I be interested in an "around the horn' feature in the promoter, when we can do that right here, right now? Why wait 2 months to read what someone else thinks when we can do it here? That doesn't make sense to me.
The promoter used to be full of *exclusive* featurs that ONLY subscribers recieved...
stuff like...
*special edition playing cards...
*continuous story-lines tying together the last edition with future editions: Massacre's death is a great example. What Kris did this month with aCe is a step in the right direction.
*Bio's on the current GWF Characters...Interviews...this helped deepen a lot of the characters personalities. I always liked that.
...hints and stories that eluded to future changes with GWF characters, alliances, and feuds...something to "chew" on if you will.
Not to sound mean, but I could really care less about people's results, and special matches when, like someone said, I can read them here EVERY DAY FOR FREE.
The GWF promoter needs to be an extention of the current set (2120) and so on...constantly updating the fans on the feuds, struggles, frustrations, and thoughts of the current, past, and future GWF characters (GWFZ anyone?)...
and less on throwing a bunch of special matches, results, and opinions together.

I'd have to say that I agree with Swarm's last post at just about 99.9%.
I'm not going to say the Promoter is no longer 'special,' because frankly, it's the closest thing to a COTG magazine we've got and that makes it, well, 'special' to me. However, I know exactly what he's saying: it no longer features an abundance of unique material.
Sure, the rankings are fun, and the cover art is always nice to see...then there's the nice message from Tom and a few other neat sneak peeks every now and then. But, the majority of the material CAN be found right here online.
My suggestions on how to improve the Promoter?
1. More creative works from game fans (ala Tommy Brownell's article on Euritar not too long ago).
2. Less space taken up on fan-created special matches and match results (post them right here instead!)
3. And much, much more storyline updates...if Tom and Mark cant find the time to donate an up-to-the-minute snippit on the current status of the GWF or CPC (which is completely understandable), well then I'd certainly do my best to fill up a page with an aCe story.
Characters and plotlines can ALWAYS be fleshed out more and what better spot to include this kind of stuff in than the Promoter?
Please don't get me wrong, I think John's done a GREAT job taking over...the transition has been flawless, and i'm noticing some format changes that are a definite improvement.
But like Swarm, i think there are a couple ways to really make the Promoter feel 'special' again...and I'd be willing to do anything to make those things happen.

I agree with Kris and Swarm on this. While sometimes you can get something really good(I love the Aethran Street Fight), I rarely look at a promoter more than a couple days after I get it. Those old exclusives are sorely missed.

Bring back the interview shows like the Launching Pad. It could be use to flesh out a character and give him more personality as well as updating us on something going on in the fed. Something like comments from the Gatekeeper giving us cryptic hints about why he is really there and who sent him. Or the Master Race saying more about there race, the genetics programs, and hyping the coming of Monolith.

I would love a LOW promoter. I'm sorry but CotG doesn't interest me. I actually bought CotG twice both times I got bored and just threw them out. I also subscribed to thr Promoter at the time. I feel more connected to LOW cause of the real characters. Anyways if a LOW Promoter was ever created I would definately subscribe.

I personally don't subscribe to the Promoter because I'm so far behind (just halfway through January of 2091) in COTG that I am worried that the issues would not yet be relevant to me. But when I do get caught up, I was planning on getting the Promoter. However, if a Legends Promoter came out then I would subscribe immediately as, since I have all the Legends editions and Special and Limited Edition Legends cards, I could understand everything in it.

Well after reading the debate for the last week or so, I decided to put in my 2 cents...I haven't recieved the newest promoter yet but I do subscribe religously. It is good that it is there and kinda touches base with promoters about new editions, special events, etc. However, it has became a stomping ground for the mundane...Tom chit chats with us for a page or two and that's all fine because he lets everyone know what happening in the GWF, LWF, and his life...then begins the onslaught of stuff that seems to drone on forever...I used to be excited and other promoters and myself used to talk about it but not s much anymore... concerning LOW mag, is there really enough to warrant a fanzine of it's own? Could another promoter of the game creat one and publish it without being overwhelmed and/or without ripping others off? And, this is not a plug for me to do it because I tried HB Inc. and had only a minimum response (most of them after I prodded others)...

Well I for one would be interested in submitting some LOW material just not sure what folks are looking for or want. Maybe some submission guidelines would be nice and I could sure come up with some stuff. Just let me know.

Guidelines would be good for LOW submissions.

I'm shocked that an actual snail mail newsletter still xists. I can't believe some long time fan hasn't set up an online fanzine that would take contirbutions from promoters everywhere. Just based on the results page and stuff like the Colored GWF psts, thee certainly seems like theres enough creativity to support it.

Yep, I passed out my fanzine at the Con...it was similar to PWI and was 20+ pages of decently written stuff...almost nil for responses. So, I am done on the publishing side for awhile...

Sorry it took me so long to respond to recent posts.. it's been a hectic week.
Anyhow..
Kris, Swarm and many others who have voiced their opinions on the Promoter and various things they would like to see in their.. I for the most part agree on several points.. and am working on things to take it in that direction..
In fact.. there are a couple of things that will please Kris, Swarm and others.. and some ideas that harken to the "Old School" wrestling mags of the 1980s.
Another thing I am starting with the next issue, at least to give a rarer spin on things, is actively pursuing promoters to get involved.. I have many ideas but rather than write everything, which I don't mind, many of them I am enlisting others to put their spin on things. You will see that with the Hall of Fame coverage in the next issue.. two of the wrestlers are covered .. now it's time to find those to take care of the other two..
If all goes well.. one main idea I have will start next issue or the one immediately after.. and once it is a go.. I will be announcing somewhere on here what I want from the Promoters to make it happen..
I thank those who have given this a "fair shot".. the transition has gone well and once other things fall into place.. this publication will satisfy many ..
Thanks John K.

Like I have said already I am keen on helping out with the humble beginnings of a expanded LOW section in the promoter or aiding in the creation of a LOW Promoter. Hmmm gives me an idea for a post......
