Character Redesign Thread #1: Executioner

Well, the polls have spoken and EXECUTIONER is the winner of the the first ever Redesign challenge on this board. But if you voted for any of the other options in the poll, fear not, because I will record the results for future consideration! (I still can't believe how many people voted for the ladies man!)

Anyway, Executioner is Thantos' resident hatchet man. Here is his brief bio from the original game edition (2087):

Another product of Earth time travel, the Executioner lived during the Dark Ages as a guillotine headsman. The Executioner's fighting strength and diabolical mind make him a top contender for the Galaxian belt. He is usually used to protect Thantos from the vengeful Wolf, whom Thantos fears.

The Executioner's lust for any belt has led him to befriend a fellow Earth villain, Genghis Khan. However, the Executioner usually prefers to wrestle as a loner against foes like the unpredictable Wolf. In fact, he is one of the few wrestlers in the federation who does not avoid matches with the savage Wolf.

As for his finisher, the HEADSMAN GUILLOTINE (a notorious slingshot from the top of the turnbuckle) has caused many serious injuries in the Federation."

So there you have it.

The rules are simple: All people who choose to participate may come up with a redesign for the Executioner. Maybe you want to alter or expand on his backstory. Maybe you want to change his moveset to strengthen or weaken his card. Maybe you want to artistically reinvision the character (You can use any medium you wish. You can sketch, paint make a 3-D model, make a CAW, make a custom action figure, whatever you want. Its entirely up to you promoter!)

You may be as drastic in your redesign as you see fit. Whatever makes you happy, as long as the cards stats conform to the official rules.

If you can't think of a new design, or just hate the idea of changing Tom's vision of the character, you do not have to feel obligated to participate in this particular challenge. You will still be free to participate in any future challenges you wish.

I will be posting my version of this character within the next couple days. I hope that other people get involved, because I truly believe this could be fun for the community. And, to all you artists out there, don't be afraid to show us what you've got! You can't tell me you wouldn't love to sketch out a bad-attitude Executioner. ;D

Looking really good here. You incorporated a few new moves that I was going to use as well. And I like the idea of tweaking his stats to slightly upgrade him to help him in his feud with Wolf, but not so much that his transformation to Whiplash would end up being a downgrade.

I'm working on an expanded backstory for him and will get that posted when I have a chance. Most likely after Thanksgiving.

When the GWF was in its early stages of growth, Thantos needed an ally that he could send to battle Wolf. Having seen successful results with time travel, he sent one of his associates back in time to the Earths middle ages to find a man violent, and diabolical enough to take on the deranged Wolf. He returned with a man named Henri Sanson, an executioner from France – and Thantos could not have been more pleased with what he saw.

Sanson was an intimidating man, physically but more importantly, mentally. He was creepy and anyone who encountered him complained of feeling deeply disturbed in his presence. Like all executioners, he was an outcast in society, and therefore never really learned how to interact with others. It wasn’t as though he cared though, as he often went out of his way to make others feel uncomfortable. He would even go so far as to carry around the severed heads of some of his recent “clients.”

Thantos began training Sanson for the wrestling ring, with very mixed results. He was so sadistic and violent that he never seemed to care about winning or losing a match, just punishing his opponent as much as humanly possible. Thantos didn’t care less about this “problem” though, as this was just the type of fighter he needed to send against Wolf. The other members of the villain camp though, felt uneasy around the Executioner and this worried Thantos because he needed the villain camp to present a strong, unified front against the Galactic Heroes.

Sanson, a former executioner in France, seemed to feel the most at home around Exo-King and the members of the Royal Family. It was decided that he would be a perfect fit in the King’s Court and Thantos arranged for Sanson to go through the same experiments as the other members of the Court. He had cybernetic parts implanted into his arms, making him an even deadlier foe.

In late 2086, Sanson made his in-ring debut as The Executioner. His opponent for the night was a local undercard wrestler who was nearly killed in the ring by Sanson (who never once attempted a pin). The referee stopped the fight and disqualified Sanson … a result that would be repeated often during his brief stay in the GWF. With the fines and suspensions mounting, Thantos began feeling a lot of pressure to do something to tone down the violence.

When he confronted Sanson, he was met with hostility and the arrogance of a Frenchmen. Sanson told him that he only answered to his King (Exo-King) and that Thantos better watch his back or he would “lose his head.” This was a threat that Thantos did not take lightly, given the fact that it was coming from an actual, trained executioner. It was then that Thantos decided that Sanson should be sent back to Earth.

Although Sanson was gone, Thantos did not want to lose the pyschological edge that his persona gave the villain team over the heroes, so he asked Marcel de Sade, an up and coming wrestler on the GWF roster (and of French heritage none the less) to play the role of Executioner. This was an offer that de Sade could not refuse as it put him in the spotlight with a huge, bloody feud with Wolf.

As for Sanson, upon his forced return to the Middle Ages, he went back to being the most feared executioner of his time … and wound up as the patriarch of the “first family of executions.”
