For what it's worth, Payback is in Tampa right now for the Outback Bowl, and he just text me that he's sitting right above the pirate ship in Raymond James Stadium.
Lucky!

Happy Frelling New Year all... I had to work...As usual...But I'm not really one to celebrate New Year, and last night I saw pretty much everyone in town who did, so I didn't miss much...

I work nights at a 24 hour Convenience Store...part of a huge Canada-wide chain (something like, 3500 stores..?) It's pretty much the Wal-Mart of convenience... I would have been Corporate Manager by now, but, well, without getting too much into it (EDIT: Failed) , I won a Wrongful Dismissal suit against my previous employer...Apparently sueing a manager of the store you want to run looks bad on a resume...Whoda thunk it...? That being said, I was the only one in town working last night...All the other stores closed before midnight for New Year's...So everyone celebrating New Year's that needs something brings their inebriated a*s to me...It's always an interesting time... Anyway, there's no nutshell to my history in that store..I should have been boss there 2 years ago, but I wasn't aware my boss at the time was leaving until it was two late...Enter two dorkchops who think just them and their wives can run a 24 hour store by themselves...yeah, they failed after only a year of their 3 year contract...I was kept on when they came in, but they were stupid as hell, didn't listen to a word I said... The TSN Turning Point was when they tried to make me sign papers that said they could guarantee my wages if any money went missing off my shift, which it never did, so the whole situation stunk...Essentially, they were losing money and they wanted someone to pin it on...I refused to sign, they fired me without notice, I sued and won, and after I left his sales dropped 45% because they had no clue how to run a business and blamed everything that went wrong on everyone else (including each other)... So anyway, nutshell...I'm back working Midnights again, under new management (which I was interviewed for and was seriously considered, but found out later that they didn't trust me because I sued the previous manager)...Things are going well, and depending on what the future holds, I may yet end up taking over sooner than later... And....Holy crap...This response is huge....I guess I could have stopped after "24 hour convenience store" huh..? ;D

dang splattercat...that sucks bro. how long after they interviewed you did they find out you sued the place? short version reply is fine. Umm...Okay, short version... The firing and subsequent Lawsuit happened late last year...The manager (one of the two who fired me) left the store this past September, leaving his brother "in charge"...I was interviewed to take over a month later, by the head guy of Ontario, and the district Manager of our area...The District manager has known me for a long while, and knew full well of the lawsuit, but she was also the one who got me the interview on short notice no less... My next post is optional...

The interview went well, but they felt that now wasn't a good time to put me in charge, because the very last time I set foot in the store was when I was fired, and my next act was to sue his a*s... In short (too late), they wanted to see some "improvement" before they gave me the keys...I worked alongside the moron that was left over with no problem...he was an idiot, and was still making the same mistakes they made when I as there before, but when he learned I was coming back, he made some changes to accomodate me (which was nice of him I suppose)...That aside, there was much more going on besides just at the store... There's another store up the highway from mine...Same kind of store only the one I work at is 24 hours, and has 8 gas pumps as well...The other one isn't and doesn't...The Manager there wasn't Corporate, but an independent retailer (or dealer if you will)...The company has decided that it doesn't like dealer stores anymore because it's better longterm to have Corporate stores instead...So they did a whole bunch of stuff to P**s off the other manager, and she gave her notice that she was quitting on November 27th...No big... Except that the entire staff was going with her... So...Now we have an effectively manager-less store where I am, and in two weeks, the other store will have nobody to run it at any level...So now the company scrambled to find someone to run THAT store... A few days passed, and things seemed to finally be coming together when the District Manager (the one who interviewed me) quit unexpectedly...So...We're now short two managers,an entire staff, and now a District Manager...Well naturally they took care of the District Manager position first...Suddenly there was a whole bunch of interviewing and training going on at the other store without my noticing since I'd just gotten back to work on midnights (which puts me out of the loop)...Somewhere in there, they found two assistant Managers, one for either store, but still no managers...Neither Assistant Manager has anywhere near the knowledge or experience I have, but being that I'm on Midnights, the new District manager doesn't know me, and my current "boss" was a tool, I was completely overlooked, and I had no clue any hiring was actually going on... Finally, the company got desperate and literally BEGGED the Independent Retailer of the other store to come back as a Corporate Manager...One of the Assistant Managers was in consideration to take over either store, but then with Dealer lady coming back, he got screwed out of that... Out of nowhere, a guy that was interviewed but had no interest in the job, pops up and takes over as Corporate Manager...I'm currently teaching him everything he needs to know...I'm kinda wondering how much - in their frantic search to find someone to run the place - they actually offered him to take over...He was already managing a Pizza Hut at the time...Anyway, unimportant.... Currently we have a semi-stable staff, a Corporate Manager who's learning (he's a nice guy, which is a bonus), and a VERY bitter Assistant Manager who is getting nowhere near what he signed up for...What that means for me basically is that I'll liekly get promoted soon to Assistant manager, which isn't that bad... That's all for now...

By the way, this should explain why I've been scarce the last couple months...And why I never get to watch PPVs or even wrestling for that matter...

Happy New Year Everyone!
Spent it in a Hotel in Sheridan, WYOMING! Not to much happening there as the family and i were in bed by 10 to be up early so that we could get home in time to watch the Rose Bowl (made 450 miles in just over 7 hours...one stop to get car-go-juice and McD's on the road, but then people in Denver put a kibosh on the pace...oh well!)
