It's 99 here in Detroit...with a heat index of 110. My wife's best friend lives in Arizona now, and they were talking on the phone and she told my wife it's cooler there than it is here right now. They are having a cool spell...it's only been 96 or so

And I bet they don't have the oppressive humidity either. Yeah, it is a "dry heat" in places like Phoenix and my home Las Vegas- but to me it is still hot. The 90s for Phoenix is cool for that area this time of year. I went to Phoenix for a few days in late June this summer and the temperature was about 112-115. But personally the heat does not bother me that much. I guess I have just gotten used to it.

And I bet they don't have the oppressive humidity either. We had unusually high humidity for July in L.A. The heat wave throughout California was pretty bad, killing nearly 150. We've seen very strange weather patterns in the last few years. Last winter, we had the second wettest year since records were kept. Plus, our seasons have been about three months behind. The summer months are actually milder than late September through November, when it has been 90+ degrees well into the fall.

The humidity is a killer, but let's face it: When you are up around 100 degrees, it is damn hot no matter where you are.

The humidity is the killer. When I was in Vegas in June it was up to 106 and it honestly didn't bother me a bit. 86 in Michigan feels twice as bad with our humidity...
