For those that care, Tim Hildebrandt passed away due to complications from diabetes a couple of days ago. He was 67. He is most famous as one half of The Brothers Hildebrandt with Greg, a famous fantasy art team who were responsible for, among other things, the original Star Wars poster. www.newsarama.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73482 |

Sad to hear about that, I really liked the Hildebrandt brothers, got a lot of inspiration from their fantasy and superhero artwork. Do we know if Greg is still working or is he retired?

Ah...that, I don't know. I know I hadn't seen anything major from them in a while, but I confess I wasn't looking.

Both have done some work for Magic the Gathering in recent years. Tim had 106 pieces comissioned for MTG all told (including a couple they worked on together). Greg's got about 46, including several recent pieces for the newest sets. Searching gatherer.wizards.com/ can give you the card names (it may help to click the "show matching printings" box); click on the colored symbols on the right to get the corresponding card images. |

He will be missed. I have always enjoyed his artwork along with his brother. RIP.
